bullet button question

i have one on my rifle and someone told me about a magnet gizmo you could buy that stays attached for when you go out of calif, but then it just pulls off when reentering..anyone heard of such a thing?

Yes, I have a couple of them. They work great on the original bullet button if you go out of the state to shoot. Just be sure you don't ever attach it in the state, not even temporarily to drop a mag - use another tool while in the state. I keep mine in one of the open holes in the 3-bullet MIAD grip - fits perfectly.

I haven't heard of what you're talking about, but I do know with the Raddlock you can use the tool they provide for when you leave CA; turn it a few times to the left and it functions the same as a normal magazine release.

The little magnet thing the OP is asking about is something that fits in an older style bullet button that makes it easy to drop mags by attaching itself to the mag release that is normally covered by the bullet button. Basically, it extends the mag release, so you can drop it with your finger. I really like them, they are a simple, solid solution.

I do not make them - the one pictured is a Solar Tactical prototype from awhile ago - I'm not even sure if he still sells these.

I have seen a magnet "bullet button" for 7.62 equipment, however, the size/shape of the plastic housing didn't fit the mag release on my 5.56. The Riflegear store isn't so far from my home, so maybe I should go there and look.

why not just install the BB and re-install the regular mag drop when leaving kaliphornia? it takes only moments.

I have this type of magazine lock on all my ARs and I love them. Very easy to drop mags when out of state.

I think the AK raddlock is a bit cumbersome, but I'm not a fan of "featureless" rifles, so I'll deal with the inconvenience. It's not like I'm using my AK in a combat situation to where I need to drop a mag real quick to reload. If I'm ever in a SD situation to where I need to use a firearm, it's either my pistol or my shotgun.

They should be the same. My 7.62 is running a normal Radlock and as per their instructions I'm using an Armalite mag catch. I know my oldschool BB was going to be a little tight but a few passes with a file and it would have dropped right in.
