I played with it this morning....If you look at the bottom of the beavertail curve, it is making too much contact with the back of the lower to allow flush mounting. If I were to dremel/file it, it would probably come to Jesus........LOL

Thanks for posting this up. I have a MIAD grip I got but haven't installed yet. I'll have to check it tonight. I'll also try the large backstraps and let you know how they fit.

I'd personally just settle for an MOE. Then again, my hands aren't like bear paws either.

My MIAD fits perfect. It was a really tight fit during install, but no problems here

In support of Missiontrails, I have seen MIADs not line up well with receivers and not fit as tight as I would like, mainly a buddies CMMG who swapped it for an MOE which fixed the problem. I have the MIAD on 3 rifles and they all like up fine with the medium backstrap.
You probably used the TD BG-16, not the BG-17.... most people are not aware that there are two.

So if that grip is fully installed what is the deal with the selector?

This looks like false advertising to me. I hate to make an assumption like that but based on the feedback you received you seem to be the only one with the issue. I can't think of a reason why you just make something like this up so I will give you the benefit of the doubt that yours actually does not fit correctly however I will say that I believe it would be a one off issue.

Also, looking at the other pic you posted it is certainly clear the grip is not angled in the same manner as the pic I quoted. Just look at the gap on the flat part of the lower receiver just before the radius that leads into the buffer tube threads. Perfectly obvious that there is a difference. I can also see that your back-strap is not lined up properly at the bottom edge of the pistol grip. That also makes me think that if you are not BSing you have an issue specific to your grip.

All-in-all, I have 3 MIADs and all fit perfect. I will also add that all three at this point have been mixed and matched just play with color combos and they still fit perfect even with the parts from the other grips.

Grip is screwed on WITHOUT the selector spring, because I was swapping back and fourth between grips to take those pics. YES, false advertising. Like I said earlier, the starting point of the beavertail curve is making way too much contact with the back curve of the receiver to be torqued on any tighter..

This is my first time seeing a Magpul MIAD grip (out of about half a dozen rifles) with such poor fitting, I personally have an MOE grip on mine which fits like a glove. If I ever came across a grip with such poor fitting (and it wasn't installer error) I would immediately give the manufacture a call and exchange it.
