Well, from what I've seen, pretty much all barrels of any thickness "whip:"

Both have their separate uses, but I'd personally prefer a long barrel version with a scope for long range shooting.

I guess its not that bad, looks like the barrel is done dancing by the time the bolt comes back forward. I think Im going with the long version provided my tax return gets here in time.

349 or 449? Lemme know how the build goes.

There is actually a short barreled PSL called the paratrooper PSL. The shorter barrel can actually make the PSL more accurate. My preference however is the long barrel. Check out Rifle Dynamics. http://www.rifledynamics.com/services/gsr.php. Especially the GSR build on the PSL.

If it were me buying, I'd go shorter. Looking at it makes me wish I had the dough

$449... I went ahead and got the PSO-1 scope that is discounted when you buy the rifle kit. It was $100, but free shipping! I'll be sure to keep you and calguns posted with this build.

Wrong site for this question. If you go to the range and just pop round and round down the range then yeah you deserve the accuracy you are getting. If you actually sit down and methodically shoot cool, shoot cool, etc. you will get excellent range results. Yes, the PSL barrel will run hot but throwing down rounds down range at a fast pace will degrade a lot of guns accuracy.

I am not saying 5 minutes waits in between shots like I see some clownish bench shooters do but enough so you keep the barrel warm but not hot. So next time you go shooting your PSL do that shoot, shoot, feel barrel, wait 30 sec or minute shoot, etc. Groupings will be better after.

PSL is an excellent rifle if you know its characteristics and work with them.

My PSL keeps up with some bolt action rifles in accuracy very easily.

LOL. My little brother is in the same dilemma. He already has a PSL and is wanting a shorter version. I have urged him to build another as opposed to cutting down the barrel on the one he has.

PSL barrels must have been meant for one round hits. You won't get a lot of accurate followup shots with that spaghetti noodle.

If it were me, and I could only have one? I'd probably just leave it alone. If you want a cool project? Go for the shorty!

after looking at more pics I want to have something a little more unique so now I want the shorter version. Its the hardest decision Ive had to make in a while, I dont know if thats good or not.
