They are only available to law enforcement. IT is definately one of the finest rifles available! I carry one.

Last time I checked... CWS had them at the gun shows. They are pretty hard to find these days

*most* Colts are on the list. The 6940 is not. The 6724 is not listed either.

OP, you want to play with one or buy one?

I don't know of any shops that have Colts that can be rented. The shops that sell them, well, have them for people to buy not fondle.

If you check the private firearms section, I believe this user is selling:

Unless you can feel the stamped model number blind folded. Any AR will 'fondle' the same.

I love the Colt LE6940 but I gotta admit that are definitely pricey! But... guess that goes with the territory when you want the best. I just bought a 6940 upper for $1000. A complete rifle may cost near the 2k out the door.

ouch...when i was searching the forums and googling it, apparently there is no MSRP set by colt, and the dealer price is somewhere around $1300. multiple people were posting on other forums that they were getting their 6940s for $1450 new. i can hold off to find a decent price.

I remember CWS were selling it for something like $1799 when they had them... Guess it depends on the dealer you go with. I got the 6940 upper since I had an extra lower but didn't want to pay an additional $500+ for the complete rifle.

it looks like cws went out of business...kind of, no more store front, only selling accessories on the interwebs.

There is no reason why you can't get any of the Colt upper's as long as you slap it onto an OLL. To me the upper is where you want the Colt quality as any milspec lower should be fine.

Now getting a Colt upper without the banned by name lower is where it can get difficult, but they should still be out there if you look.
