that "off list" list is not completely accurate, do not rely on it to protect yourself.

SOME dpms are legal, most aren't. If it has DPMS Panther on the receiver, it is listed. All the modern DPMS say Panther Arms on them, and are listed. There are some older DPMS model A-15 that do not say Panther Arms and they are legal.

correct DPMS is banned by 'name'...however, there are several that are legal to own. just have to find a dealer to accept one, or by from one of the wonderful vendors on this forum that support CalGuns as WE support them...<---shameless plug for the vendors....

With so many companies not even mentioned on the list, why try looking for one of the few legal DPMS receivers? They aren't special at all, and there are a dozen(or more) other companies with perfectly fine products.

Honestly the lower doesn't matter, it's all about the upper IMO, Spike's Tactical, Stag Arms are all great and affordable

If you want, sure. I wouldn't spend my money on that(almost all plastic components, hammers that get mangled over time, stories of people having to re-drill to put in proper takedown pins, no thanks. Of course now I'm sure someone will chime in defending theirs ).

ETA: Seriously though, just hit up your local shops and see what they have.

Dude, we could spend hours mentioning different brands, none of which will do you any good if you end up having to pay a $50 transfer fee plus shipping to get that specific one at your local shop. You're seriously overthinking this.
