    9mm AR Lower Receivers

I'm looking to build a 9mm AR complete rifle; mainly for the cost of ammunition and all the indoor ranges by my house in Orange County don't allow rifle calibers to be shot unless you're a LEO. So I'm considering starting off with the lower receiver segment of the build.

I was looking at Spikes Tactical's 9mm AR Adapter, but then I came across the CMMG's dedicated 9mm lower receiver. I don't have any experience with either product. Which would you recommend I go with?

The Spikes Tactical magwell block is $134.95 (which doesn't even include the lower).

The CMMG's Dedicated 9mm lowers are going for $175.95 on their website.

Any advice on either 2, or pointing me in the direction of another product would be much appreciated

Another deciding factor is the mag use. Spikes claims on their website that their adapter works with the following magazines: -Spike's Tactical/Metalform

    -Metalform

    -Modified Uzi

    -ProMags

    -Colt/Metalform

    -Beta-C drums

    -Cproducts

Where as the CMMG claims it's only compatible with Colt and modified Uzi style magazines.

If you have any standard cap glock mags Olympic Arms and Lone wolf make ar-15 lowers that take 9mm glock mags.

Be careful with Olympic Arms. There are some that are on the ban list.

A dedicated 9mm lower is always going to be more reliable than then magwell adapter models. The adapters can shift position, be picky on placement, and come loose--I have found that liberal applications of loc-tite fix these issue though.

I have a dedicated RRA 9mm AR Pistol that I'd love to sell you if you are interested Functions 100% and low round count

We have the CMMG dedicated lowers in stock for $219. When you consider transfer fee and shipping, ours is about the same price. I'm surprised ours is priced higher than on CMMG's website. They may have lowered the price on it since our purchase.

This is my 9mm built on a CMMG lower. The CMMG's are great and I highly recommend them. You save $150 on the magwell adapter.

Compatible with all the same mags as the Spikes. Colt/Metalform/Uzi/C Products/Pro Mag/C products, etc... I use the standard 10rd C products and they work great.

I have built up three 9 blow back ars. Reliable mags is the key to any reliable build. I have settled on a cmmg dedicated lower now but only half of my mags work reliably in it, which is better than my conversion block efforts.

Going forward, I think a lone wolf g17 ar would be a good way to go being that glock mags work and are known to be reliable.

The mgi hydra also looks interesting but I have not heard good things about it. I would like to have a 45 acp carbine and think the hydra would be fun to build up as a complete rifle.
