Geisselle Trigger on my AR not working properly

I experienced a problem with my S&W AR with a Geisselle SSA trigger that I installed about six months ago.

I have fired about 400 rounds through the rifle with no problems until this afternoon. I fired about twenty rounds with no problems. I then pulled the trigger and nothing happened. The hammer didn't fall and there was little movement in the trigger.

I unloaded the weapon and opened her up. I ensured that I was holding the hammer to keep it from striking the frame and pulled the trigger again. Nothing happened. I double-checked to make sure it wasn't on safe and it still didn't drop the hammer.

I recently installed a new pistol grip and during the reassembly process, the safety selector switch did fall out. I replaced it and did a function check. The rifle worked properly so I assumed everything was fine.

Did I happen to forget to check for something in the process of reassemblinig the selector switch?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Inspect for any obstructions like a primer or something is the trigger mushy or is it locked as if it was on safe.

It's locked as if on safe. I jiggle the hammer/sear engagement area for awhile and put the upper and lower together and it will fire for awhile.

There are no obstructions in the lower...clean as a whistle.

        Disconnector spring

Thanks, I'll check for the spring. Would it cause the rifle to fail intermittently?

Check for debris (like a primer) trapped under the forward part of the trigger. Somewhat common.

My guess is the detent pin fell out after removing the pistol grip.

Detent or a primer. Pull your hammer and trigger pins out and R & R.

The detent pin is in the receiver. I made sure I didn't lose it when I installed the new grip.

Thanks for the help, guys. I think I am going to do what Killshot recommended and reinstall the trigger group.

I've installed a couple of Geisselle trigger groups for customers, on both I had to modify the selector to fit the trigger. The back of the trigger is actually a bit wider than most selector notches I've encountered, takes a bit of filing to widen it, but once you've got it set, it runs like a dream.

I'll reread the instructions and see if the trigger needs filing. It worked perfectly fine until I replaced the handle and the detent and the selector switch fell out and I had to replace them both.

                      Thanks, dirtyJ.

If this were the case, it wouldn't have worked from the beginning.

I'm not able to work on my rifle right now, however, I'm wondering if kendog is right. If my AR worked for over 400 rounds with the Geisselle trigger group, is it still possible that the trigger is to wide for the selector switch?
