I had an issue when I switched my trigger with an Iron Ridge one. The trigger is AWESOME. Breaks like glass. The only problem was that when I was shooting in Bishop, the pins walked out to the point where the gun would no longer function. I had to press on the hammer and move the trigger all around and try to punch the pin back in, only to have it pop out 2 more times in the following 20 rounds.

They are absolutely necessary for me and my gun pretty much wont function without them. Though it is strange that I can still push the whole anti-walk pin setup side to side a pretty good ways. The screws are tightened all the way but it seems the pins are a tad long. As long as those screws stay in I'm good.

With some non-standard triggers they are a necessity.

On some upgraded, match, triggers the standard pins will just not properly engage with the hammer spring so you must use the KNS or other anti rotate /anti walk pins. My JARD trigger on my LR.308 would have pins walk out after only a few tens of rounds. I think the lighter hammer spring and perhaps the weaker detent in the trigger just wouldn't hold. My main reason for possibly wanting these pins is to get a tighter fit and more consistent trigger geometry with a nice trigger. If you are using a standard AR trigger (ugh!) then you probably do not need the special pins.

It seems that for the price, they are WELL worth the extra security. And yes, they do look cool!

Can I interest you in the brass deflector protector? Now available in tactical black, only $49.99 a roll:

Guaranteed to keep the brass marks away.

But seriously though, unless you have a problem with walking pins, they aren't necessary. For the most part they're just another one of those things to nickel and dime people. $10 here, $30 there, $20 for this, $5 for that.
