I recall one member calling it "cheap ***" because of the relative poor quality, according to him. Having done research on .22 uppers, I found this to be a nice one for the price:

It's to bad Umarex never got those Colt clones smoothed out. I had an M4 Ops last year, I was a kid in a candy shop until I shot it. I read all the threads and took all the notes to the range with me even the right ammo. Did everything to a T. Went home went back to the range later that day. No bueno! Needless to say it went right back to the store. Gun shop was aware of the wide spread epidemic, ate the gun and gave me store credit. Hopefully they didn't eat the gun and got credit for it. My plan was to use the Colt/Walther .22 as gateway AR. Should of just done the AR in the first place and picked up a conversion.

I have one. I purchased the upper when they were approximately $300 or so, and have no regrets. It's a fairly accurate plinker that's light due to the polymer upper. As far as feeling cheap, I don't think so, feels just as solid as my DPMS, Bushmaster, YHM and Colt 5.56 uppers.

The only issue I've had with the upper wasn't the upper per se, but the magazine that came with the rifle, I thought the upper was a dog when I ran the first mag through, FTF, FTE all over. But once I switched to BDM mags, it ran 100% with Rem golden bullets, Federal bulk pack, Winchester Wildcats, CCI minimags and Blazer 22lr. So, the stock mag was crap and I haven't used it since.

As far as value for the price, I think it's a fair value, although another interesting option for approximately the same price is the CMMG Sierra 22lr uppers as those are made with AR15parts (metal upper).

No problem, out of curiosity, why are you looking to pick up a complete upper? I know there was a member that had some bolt catches that were made for dedicated 22lr uppers so that the entire rifle would essentially have the same manual of arms as a center fire....

Got a spare lower to mate to it? One of those PlumCrazy lowers I think would be great with one of these uppers, it'd make for a super light weight setup.
