    DTI Upper Question

    Hi

New to Calguns and new to building AR's.

I have been trying to learn what I can and want to know if this upper from DTI is a good deal or if I can get the same set up cheaper somewhere else. I already built my DTI lower with a Rock River Parts kit and just need to finish up the rifle.

I want to go M4 style.

here is what I thinking of buying

    Sale Price: $460.00
    Barrel DTI 16" M4 1x7 Chrome Lined
    Bolt & Carrier Standard
Handguards CAR Handgaurds with Heat Shields - Black
Gas Blocks Standard A2 Front Sight
    Flash Hiders A2 Flash Hider
Uppers Flat Top upper with M4 Feed Ramps
    Charging Handle Standard Charging Handle
Carrying Handle - None ( I will get later)
    Gas Tubes CAR Gas Tube

    Any advice?

It really depends what you plan to do. DTI are not top tier, but yet for $80 more you can get a BCM which is. Just how you want to spend your money.

I don't know off hand about the price but I have built a carbine kit and a middy kit from del-ton. Both are accurate and trouble free. I highly recommend them. Mark

Myself and my neighbor both have trouble free DTI uppers and would not be afraid to recommend them

Thumbs up for DTI. Also DPMS has quality uppers in that price range.

$460 is a little high for just the upper. You can get a whole kit w/o stripped lower from Del-Ton for $465. Here's a complete Del-Ton upper for $419. CLICK HERE!

Get this upper from PA... it's a heck of a deal. It compares to BCM well other then the MPI tested bolt/barrel.

Spikes Mid-length upper complete with T2 buffer

You get a lot of rifle for your $$$. And you get a better gas-system.

The poster wants chrome lined which adds $45 on a del-ton uppers or kits. The m4 kits are $485 plus the $45 for chrome. But I would agree with you on the kits are the better deal. Mark

Why do you think DTi barrels are 1:7?

Can you give me a link to that....my google-fu shows DTi website NOT stating twist... It matter a BUNCH. When someone says 1:7 twist, several other things come into play since few barrel shops do 1:7 in the M4 profile... can you give us a link.

Just click on the Pull down for Barrel and change it to the chrome lined 1:7 twist

You need to call them and rope them down.
                        It is
                        .223 1:7 4140CM
                        5.56 1:7 4140CM
                        .223 1:7 4150
                        5.56 1:7 4150
                        5.56 1:7 4150CMV

there is no .223 4150CMV 1:7 to my knowledge....
they only state their barrels are 4140CM 5.56 1:9.

is the barrel extension 4150, 4140 or 4150CMV? chromlined? what??/?

I see you have the option to get 1:7...but 1:7 WHAT type is the question.
