Long range scope for AR15

I currently have an EoTech on my AR15 but want to try some long range shooting.

What is a good 50-300 yard scope for a 16" 1/7 twist barrel? My budget is around $300. Thanks.

Forgot to mention, this will be primarily for precision bench rest shooting.

Are you trying to shoot for group sizes or do you want something sorta high speed? If you're not bench rest shooting, take a look at some 1-4x scopes.

You could also check out the Leupold Mark AR series. I think they're near that price range for the lower end magnifications and up to about $550.

Honestly I would try with your EoTech. 300 yards is not too far out for that optic and well within its capabilities. Matter fact I use my Aimpoint for 300 and under every week.

If you want magnified optics try the magnifier for the EoTech or Aimpoint, I like the Aimpoint one better as I don't like things hanging off my gun when not in use. You do not need more then 3x for that range to hit man sized targets. Heck the 1x EoTech optic is fine for this.

Now if you want to shoot tight little groups you might want a traditional scope but really you might want to get a different upper with a longer barrel and other upgrades. It is a pain to re-zero and reset things like putting on a different scope so I like to swap uppers. This keeps your tactical upper and your target upper.

At 6x you have plenty of fov...and at higher magnifications you don't really need a spotting scope. I get nice small groups using it.

The OP asked for a scope around $300. It does absolutely no help to suggest something 2-10x his price range.

For strict bench shooting, go with a variable or even a fixed scope. I don't know how far you're shooting, but I like magnification. I like something at least 18x up to 24x. This is for shooting under MOA groups at 100 yards and beyond.

As for brands, they are plentiful but I would stick with Burris, Bushnell, Leupold, Nikon, Viper and Weaver. They all have models in your price range that perform well.

Good quality mounts that have repeatable zero mounting systems are the answer to that. I can take my American Defense on and off without any change in my zero.
