    * Looking to do a road trip *

Yes it about time me and my wife do a road trip. We plan to hit up reno NV. Anyone know if there is any good spot out there to shoot? Any good gun stores around there? I know they have a lot. Post the sites if you have them thanks.

Otherwise we plan to hit the slots and have snow ball fights lol.

Any chance they are having a gun show around that time? The prices are bleh, but seeing everything is pretty cool.

go to Reno and turn left. Pretty much everything that you hit out there is blm land and good to go. (not sure if it is called BLM in NV but you get the idea).

Hit Cabelas first... they have a great selection of stuff for the outdoorsman (camping, hunting, fishing, etc...) and a VERY nice gun library. I wonder if they still have that M-60 for sale?

Scheels has a nice selection of all things sporting goods (hunting, camping, cycling, etc...), with a very respectible gun / reloading department. Last time I was there, they had a nice selection of Cooper rifles... note those test targets are THREE shots, not one.

I say you should go to Cabelas first, since you could fit 5+ Cabelas into the Scheels store. and Cabelas can seem small by comparison - keep in mind that Cabelas wins in the categories they compete in. When telling people about Scheels, I like to say that from the top of the 70' ferris wheel they have INSIDE, you can see downtown Reno and MOST of the store.

Sorry, but I don't have any recomendations on small Mom and Pop gun shops if that's what you're looking for.

Here's a great place to shoot, although not for free. http://www.frontsight.com/

I am sure there are some two day shooting classes being sold around here for reasonable, or you could spend 500.00 up front for you and the wife, and get a diamond membership and not pay to shoot, and enjoy all they have to offer.
