I've also been contemplating an H buffer and battlecomp to help with the muzzle rise
I just got an H3 buffer for my 16" middy from here. I know the H3 is on the heavier end but from what I've read, if you are shooting good ammo, it's uber soft. As for the VFG vs AFG, that's going to be on you. I'm running a stubby VFG right now but have also shot using the AFG. Each have their merits. Choose wisely...

Maybe I'll try the H3 first then. If it's too heavy what type of problems would I encounter?

It IS empty but I want to order a 16" LW middy from smartgunner before the deal is gone!

If it's too heavy, the buffer/BCG/spring simply won't be able to cycle all the way back to end of buffer tube and potentially have a failure to feed the next round.

You have a 16" midlength, which has more dwell time than a 14.5" midlength, so there will be more pressure....good thing in this case. Shoot good quality strong ammo...that'll help. If weather's not too cold, that's a plus too.

                  Try it...it's just a buffer.

Just got back from burro canyon. Wow that was fun. Got to shoot all kinds of different guns from a 338 lapua, 500 s&w to a 12ga. I zero'd my irons and am super happy with it. It shot some tight groups at 50 yards. (I know, worthless without pics. Next time) Shot about 500 rounds w/o issue. Although I couldn't zero my T1. It wasn't even on the paper, gotta get a boresight or have it done.

I think next upgrades will be a battlecomp, H3 buffer and the tango down stubby or daniel defense stubby vertical grip. Anybody recommend a spotting scope? Trying to see the point of impact was a PITA.

Very nice first build! If I had money to spend my first build would have came out right the first time too.
