Get him the range bag cuz it's affordable and some good ammo, stuff he'll like to shoot down at the range!Be the change that you wish to see in the world.Mahatma Gandhi

I just bought Tiger McKee's book "The Book of Two Guns" last week. I had added it to my amazon cart on a whim, it was either buy another book that looked decent for $24 or pay $10 for shipping.
Anyway, I just started it, but so far it is pretty good. It's basically Tiger's training diary from Thunder Ranch, Gun Site, his own experiences as an instructor, and a host of other training he has undergone. A lot of stuff I already knew, but it doesn't hurt to have it on paper. It covers both AR & Pistol (geared toward the 1911 but the pistol fundamentals and tactics apply across the board).
Also, Magpul's DVD set "Art of the Tactical Carbine" is ~$35.
If he's fairly new to his AR, or wants to really know how to use it, he might find either of these to be both interesting and helpful in getting him started in his training.Comment

Don't recommend getting him anything that attaches to the rifle, that is all personal preference and you stand a greater chance of failing than succeeding.
Given your budget:
Ammo
Multi tool
Bore snake or cleaning supplies
targets
eye/ear protection
Magpul dynamics video (and then you can borrow it from him)WTB: SWISS & German police trade in pistols
WTB: German made & proofed SIG P226R & P228R
WTB: Factory cutaway pistols & rifles

How about a normal magazine release button inside a glass jar with the words, "break in case of emergency" etched onto it?NRA Benefactor Life Member

If he built his AR there's no telling what he wants without knowing his specific plans for the rifle. I shudder to think what would happen if my wife (God bless her) tried to buy me gear for me.
Your only choice would be a gift certificate to brownells or something like that.sigpic

That case looks a great idea. I would assume just about any AR would fit in the 40" version. For $18 it is pretty darn good deal. Cases do not need to be a precise fit, they just need to be big enough to hold what you have. Unless is AR is an extra-large custom long range beast, it should fit in the 40" version. So Christmas is coming and I need a present fr my brother who recently built his own AR-15. I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations on something I could get him? I'm not too familiar with the whole AR craze. He mentioned he needed a range bag and or a midwayusa gift card. I hate giving gift cards so any suggestions? Also preferable things on a budget.
Maybe this gun case?

Some people suggested maybe getting him a Pmag or two, but the problem there is the California laws blocking the import of high-capacity magazines. You would need to get one already blocked off to hold 10 rounds, which increases the price. I carry the non-blocked off ones which I cannot sell to California. My sell is just under $15 each. A company called Solar Tactical has the blocked off ones for a little more money. They do an excellent job modifying them to be California legal.Last edited by tacticalcity; 11-18-2010, 4:45 PM.Comment
