    Caliber Question

I am looking into getting another rifle. I currently have multiple rifles in .22, .17hmr, .223, and a 22-250 calibers. I am looking for something that will be a good multi-purpose hunting rifle in a larger caliber. I am thinking something that I can shoot deer, boar, maybe even bear. I am not a big hunter but my buddies are always after me to go so I would like to be prepared. I have narrowed my choice of rifles to a Tikka T3 Lite which is offered in a large range of calibers. Thank you for you help.

Due to ammo availability and selection, I'd say get a .308.

.308 and 30-06 meet the walmart test, they are solid calibers. Directly for hunting, I think 30-06 is more preferred. I'm not yet a hunter.

I am not a big hunter either. But countless attempts by my buddies is starting to wear on me. Not to mention an excuse to purchase another rifle..........

            .308 would be my preference.

300 win mag. Just this much more powerful than the others mentioned, and the ammo is easy to find if you plan ahead a bit.

Would like to hear a report on your Tikka when you get it.

I have checked out quite a few rifles and my track record with Tikka's is more than stellar. I own a .22-250 and have shot them in a couple other calibers. They are in my opinion one of the best out there. As far as price they are middle road of the rifles I have looked at, and are highly recommended by my dealer (yes I understand they are in the buisness to make money, but they have been up front with me for many years and I trust there recommendation).
