    Semi-Auto help?

OK so kinda stupid question but here I go. Im more into C&R rifles, so Im not to "up to date" with modern weapons so I'm needing some help choosing. I'm looking for a Cali legal Semi-Auto with a high-velocity heavy hitting round. I was thinking an FAL, CETME perhaps even the Browning BAR 7MM. Input?

My dad likes the FN49s. If you could find a Cali gun in 308, I think that should fit the bill. If you don't want to pay the premium of a 308 then you can get a 7mm Mauser.

i think FALs look cooler. haha
a BAR is A LOT of money i know that, your looking at like 5-8k if im right. they usually have ads in shotgun news and the like. but if you do get one, you wont need a bullet button because its technically a featureless rifle.
a good fal is about 1k i dont know much personally. ive seen you post in C&R for m1 garand cmp posts, thats pretty hard hitting right there, i orderd one as well

I have a Mauser K98 and would love a G43 but thats C&R I want something a little more up to date with the same power as the 8mm Mauser round, But I have heard good things about the FN49......Ok OK time for honesty....I just watched Red Dawn and I'm wanting to get a rifle thats going to be big and heavy enough to punch right through some nasty North Korean body armor and tear him up inside and out. This isnt a SHTF post, I'm simply wondering what would do the trick just in case plus I live in Modesto and I dont wanna take chance.

Cetme or FAL are good choices and there's plenty of cheap .308 on the market. Since you're into C&R though, whyy not go with a SKS?

Its 7.62x39, that wont pierce high end body armor will it? I've heard stories that in Iraq was going through vest, helmets and bullet resistant glass, but thats that what I've heard. Would something like this be Cali legal?

Aww yes the PSL What is its Muzzle Velocity? I do so enjoy the 7.62x54, but it tends to get wobbly at around 350-400 yards, at least some of the surplus stuff.

Don't tacticool an SKS, trust me. The detachable after market magazines are all crap, and you'd still need a mag lock. Stripper clips are the way to go!

M14 perhaps? 7.62x51 should do the trick I'm thinking
