    9mm rifles

What is the effective range on a standard 9mm round in a rifle?
Does the type of rifle matter greatly? Do they make a lever action?

I shoot my 9mm AR out to about 100 yds for plinking.

It depends on what looks good to you. When you find something you like then ask here for comments.

I am not aware of anyone making a lever 9mm.

I'm guessing the AR platform would be the most accurate for 9mm, although I have not shot a camp 9 or the ruger 9. I did shoot a ruger in 40 I believe, but have nothing to compare it too.

bball, I can't say the ARs are the most accurate, but my CMMG will shoot one very tiny little 10 shot hole at 25yds.

Given Marlin and Ruger's rep I wouldn't count them out.

I had a scope on my camp 9 for a wile, but then i came to the conclusion that if i can hit paper at 100 yards open sights a scope is a waist of time, and if you are looking for accuracy forget 9mm anything. Its a fun, cheap plinker under 100 yards, that's all!

Not aware of any lever actions in 9mm. 357 would probably be the closest thing. Effective range is less than 100 yards.

                  Query...
                  effective range for what?
                  papertargets?
                  alum. cans?
                  squirrels?
                  rats?
                  zombies?

and there aren't any 9mm levers...the round nose bullets would set each other off in the tube magazine...
Ruger could make one using their rotary mag...if they thought it would sell...
                  which it won't...

Thanks guys. My thought on it would be for targeting or plinking. I like the idea of taking a pistol and a rifle out and only needing one type of round. I know you can do the same with .38s or .357s, but I have a 9mm so I thought it would be interesting.

I had seen some things like MP5s I think are 9mm and some AR15s with 9mm, just didn't know if there was a plinker type rifle.

What would an entry level black rifle run.

Well there are people who shoot at steel more than 200 yards away with Glock 34s with some effect. So triple the barrel length for a little extra velocity and you gotta figure it good out to 250 yards, right?
