    Completed Two New AR's

I just completed for now two new AR's. Both are BCM mid length uppers. One a light wieght 16" and the other a standard 16" mid-length.
The Light wieght rifle has a Troy TRX etreme hand guard and MBUS sights. I have not decided if I am going to run a scope on this. If I do I need to look at some very light scope mounts as I would like to keep the wieght down on this rifle. I cut down the front sight base on each so that they would clear the handguard. The lowers are Mega with a BB. Triggers are standard right now until I install the JP into the standard wieght rifle. The standard wieght rifle has a JP hand guard. Over all I am happy with both builds. I must say BCM puts their uppers together very tight as I did not have this trouble on my RRA. I guess it's a good sign. That said I almost wish I had gone with teh Troy handguard on both as it is a very nice unit and smaller than the JP. I have had the JP handguards in the past and was happy with it but the Troy unit is even nicer.

Did you notice much weight difference between the LW and standard? I want a LW but wonder if the weight is really noticeable

Thanks, I was assembeling a couple of rifles for a friend and got the bug to finish off a few of mine. I had a few lower sitting around and BCM had some great deals on uppers. I decided that if I assembling rifles for him i might as well some for myself.

The CAA DVSR is one of the lightest mounts available.

If you buy one, get it at a gun show so that you can check the fit on a rail before you buy.

The one I got mail order was defective. That's Chinese QC.

Once I got one that fit, it seems to work pretty well but I would try to go as light as possible with the scope. My Weaver Classic Extreme 1.5-4.5x24 is a bit heavy but the mount seems to be able to handle it on my 5.56*45 AR.

It's a 30mm mount so if you want to use a 1" scope, make sure the ring spacers are in the package.

Is this the same mount you were talking about? This is a CAA mount on my
.22. I really was thinking along the lines of quick detaching aluminum Warne scope rings or the new nikon mount. Ultimately I am looking to put much better glass on both these rifles. Ideally a Trijicon 1x4
