The two I mentioned are $80 with one normally being around $150. The SPARC is around $200. I think if I ended up spending some coin, I may just bite the bullet and go with an Aimpoint. I'm just trying to see if the two I mentioned are worth the savings.

Here's the typical numbers for a Aimpoint/Larue mount setup. Aimpoint H1 $540, LaRue LT660 mount $120 = $660 total avg. vs SPARC $199 includes 3 mounts with a 2x Mag. All I can say is, I can buy a lot of stuff with $461.

+1 for Vortex SPARC and Vortex Strikefire. I won both and both are just unbeatable for the price. They hold zero, and has been proven by many consumers as a reliable best buy red sight. My Strikefire on my AK has held zero for about 1500 rounds now while my SPARC on my AR15 has about 600 rounds through it. There are lots of tests and reviews you can search and the majority is excellent. There is even a side by side review and comaprison of the SPARC against the Aimpoint Mini.

just to chime in on the primary arms: the first one sent to me would turn off if moved vigorously at all (not just shooting, swinging the rifle quickly from target to target).

the second one has an issue where the screws holding the POI adjusters are loose.

if I was spending the money again I'd go with something else.

edit: and the standard mount that came with the primary arms aimpoint clone was total trash.

NutnFancy likes the Bushnell TRS-25. One of the biggest complaints of the lower priced red dots is that they're not bright enough but the Bushnell doesn't have that problem.

You must have had a really cheap sight or a poor mount if this was happening. A QUALITY red dot sight will not lose zero by turning it on/off or by transporting it to a range. Many people put fastfires on a dovetailed sight on 1911's and they hold up to the thing hammering back and forth to the slide slamming home. There is no way it should be re-zeroed after every trip.

Yea he's talking about an $80 sight mount included. My fastfire ran me around $230 w/ mount and rail ring top. I love my fastfire

I have had 0 experience with that sight but nutnfancy likes it and show it in action. What more could you want in a review. Give the trs-25 a go

The Primary Arms red dots have good reviews. But you must take it for what it is, an inexpensive clone. Supposedly, it works pretty good, especially if youre just shooting on the weekends at the range, and not kicking down doors, or getting dirty in the sandbox..

I think PA has a great warranty and/or customer service. Most of the time, when something goes wrong, and you contact them, they'll try to make it right.

There are other good cheap red dots out there like the Vortex, Bushnell, Burris, and whatnot. I cant remember any specific model names right now, but Im sure if you keep researching and reading threads/posts/opinions/etc etc, folks will recommend a good and inexpensive red dot.

I do believe in you get what you pay for, and buy once, cry once. So maybe saving up $250-350 for a good red dot (Aimpoint or EOTech) will be better in the long run..

I have a couple of optics from PA. I sent them an e-mail asking if the fake Trijicon would handle the recoil of a Beowulf.

Here's the response I got

We have done no extensive testing above a .308 bolt action and ar platform for that scope. I would say that is at the extreme limits if not too much. We do not have any more in stock or I would tell you to go ahead and do it and we would replace it. I would be willing to replace it with another optic or equal value if it fails. Just let me know. Thanks

So they're willing to go out on a limb and replace the scope if I put it on a rifle that they are pretty sure is going to cause failure. Doesn't get much better customer service than that.
