10 rd Mag holds 11...Now what?

After having only put about 50 rounds through it, I was loading up my 10 round magazine and lost count and ended up putting an 11 th round in to it. It was a little tough, but there seemed to be space and it wasn't like I was unnaturally forcing it.

Am I at risk, legally, by possessing this mag? Should I take it back to the store where I bought it, or should I just say screw it?

Go directly to Jail. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.

And why the hell are you TRYING to get 11 rounds in your ten round mag?

I guess you missed the part where he said he lost count.

Meh I wouldn't take it back just make sure you put 10 in next time.I think it would be different if it was 2 or 3 extra though.

A high cap mag, by law is a mag that holds more than 10.
Doesn't matter if it's 11 or 500....it's the same in the eyes of the law.

Just use it and don't post about it on a public forum

You know that? if take the spring and follower out it will hold 15, so I guess technically all 10 round mags are illegal hi-caps under the right circumstances.

Take it back or glue a dummy round on the follower

Don't insert it into a fixed magazine rifle and legally you are fine. Possession of a high cap is not illegal, but I would exchange it for a 10 rounder if you do not have a featureless rifle to use it with.

^ This! Congrats. You now have a legally owned large capacity magazine. Make a featureless build and use it.

Exactly. Thus, with that 11-round large capacity magazine, the OP can now rebuild it to a 30-rounder and with a RAW or featureless rifle, use it legally and drop it with a fully functional mag release button. WIN!

Only true if he puts it in a fixed magazine build. Otherwise, he's just stumbled into a legally owned large capacity magazine for the win.

Would that be the same if my, lets say magpul 10/30's just suddenly accepted 30 rounds out of nowhere wink wink?

Seems like any Joe off the street can buy a 30 round re-build kit, assemble it, and say he found it or an out of state online shop sent it to him like that on accident.
