Ok I see you want actual figures to bring to the table and make a budget with the wife. Great planning.

    1) Go to a local gun shop that sells OLLs. Ask them for a full out the door price of one. Everything included. Depending on them, they could even help you gather all the parts needed. Some dont like to do this because you can then use their list to "shop" around and all the time spent with you is used to buy stuff from someone else.

At the very least you now have a no BS 100% cost of buying a stripped OLL.

Then go here and figure out the cost to ship it. $525+ shipping

then go here and figure in the cost of shipping. you can even fill the shopping cart and just dont "buy" anything.
    Magento, Varien12, E-commerce

    you need..
    1) An LPK- http://www.stagarms.com/product_info...roducts_id=231
    2) A stock + kit - http://www.stagarms.com/product_info...roducts_id=251

    or

    3) http://www.stagarms.com/product_info...roducts_id=324

    4) http://www.riflegear.com/p-58-bullet-button.aspx

add everything up including shipping and there is your target.

Most civilization is based on cowardice. It's so easy to civilize by teaching cowardice. You water down the standards which would lead to bravery. You restrain the will. You regulate the appetites. You fence in the horizons. You make a law for every movement. You deny the existence of chaos. You teach even the children to breathe slowly. You tame.

yes youre somewhat right, but when people upgrade they tend to sell the part they upgraded making some of their money back. nothing wrong with starting with a base AR and working your way up.Hell thats what i did. I dont have anymore into it than I did when I bought it ( given i sold the old parts to make up for what I paid for the upgraded part I guess I do have a little more in it but I woudl say its only about 10% more than what I initially paid for it. it all comes down with careful purchasing and searching for the right deal)

This is something you want and I would hope any wife would be willing to work with you to accomplish this goal.

As I would hope if she asked you to help her buy an item (that has no real value to you) that cost as much.

Timewarp...4 years ago, Dieselpower & Mrs dieselpower are sitting at the dinner table. Mrs DP says, "There is a dress and purse I want to buy. I will rarely wear them, but I really want them, just in case we ever go out to a really nice place." How much I ask, Her reply, "$1500.00 for the dress and $500.00 for the purse. Shoes maybe $400.00."

"Ok we can swing several hundred a payweek, if we tighten up on stuff we don't need, maybe more."

Three months later she bought this outfit and then we spent another $400.00 on a single night on the town for her to show it all off. Dinner date was fantastic and I am glad the Wife and I worked together so she could get the things she wanted even if unpractical in my mind.

I hope your wife works with you in buying an AR15. Be realistic though. Dont go buying a scrub gun, just because it looks like what you really want. That would be the same as my wife buying a cheap knock-off of the things she wanted. It will always be in the back of your head that your AR15 is a cheap copy of a highly functioning real AR15.

I want to see a pic of the Mrs. modelling that dress please. I can't imagine rationaly agreeing to something like that so I need to understand the true irrational motivation behind this. If you don't mind. We all need to wrap our heads around this...
          Thanks;

That was the whole point. No man could rationalise that much for a dress. Most women can and his wife did. So out of love for her, and his obviouse understanding of how most women think, he didnt try to rationalise it, he just did it. If I could have loved my wife enough to put her happiness before my rationality, well, I would probably still be divorced but it probably would have lasted longer and been a much happier marriage
