Best KISS AR-15 for least $$$

Convincing the wife to release enough funds to build an AR has been difficult, so I need to gather more info to present her with. I want to know what is the best KISS AR-15 (and i know that's a subjective term) for the least amount of $$$. That way I can show her the difference in cost vs building it myself. If you've got suggestions for what KISS AR you'd buy, I'll check them out and see if the specs are what I'm looking to build. So what are your thoughts?

If you go the build route you can get pretty low priced. I think I priced a "bargain build" in the $650-700 area

For the price, Spikes Tactical complete rifles are pretty excellent. They're not quite up there with BCM or Daniel Defense, but I daresay they're damn close.

They might even have a coupon deal running right now.

I just priced a complete new AR that you can build from all the great deals in the market place (commercial deals) for under $550 and that would be including DROS fees. A KISS AR is pretty cheap to build, you just gotta put in the leg work to look around for these deals.

You are going about this all wrong. You need to show her the most expensive complete rifle you can, maybe even a AR-10, and then show her what your proposed AR-15 build will cost.

That'll give you more money in the build fund.

Not trying to start anything; but I am curious as to how Spikes is not at the standard of BCM or DD? The only thing that I can find so far is that Spikes does not mention that they High Pressure test the barrel? The Spike's middy on AIM is (was?) a smoking deal and I see no discernible difference between it, my BCM and my Sabre.

Stag and CMMG will do. DelTon is even cheaper but I wouldnt really recommend it. I'd go with a BCM upper, DD A1.5 rear sight, whatever receiver, RRA/Stag LPK, P50 BB and a basic M4 stock with buffer assembly.

I've built ar's with these parts and it's good price I think:

Delton lower 88+25 dros = 113
nameless upper with m4 barrel and free float handrails = 285
buttstock, i pieced them together which included: buffer tube(25), ring(3), buffer spring (5), magpul (45)= 78
trigger group = 55

$531 total. It shoots just as good as any of my ar's that cost 1k+, just doesnt have a name brand.
