Most rail covers are carbine length. In order to cover a mid-length rail, I had to use the cheap chinese ones from a gunshow. I actually like them better since they are lower profile than most others.

I have the same question, but for a YHM carbine-length free floated rail setup. I have a Tango Down VFG on it also, so I want to get some panels for the bottom rail where the VFG isn't.

            KAC's actually rattle a little...

Personally, I've used like, most, if not all of the ones out there...

My favourite is actually the really HARD TO FIND Surefire Ladder Rail Protectors. They are rubbery, make the rail feels soft if you hold it with your bare hands. It ONLY comes in black. This is, by far, the BEST.... IMHO....

If you need "color" ladders... then the best is Magpul's...

If you want solid panels, then TangoDown is the best..... they have colors too...

If you want what the military uses... then, it is the KAC... but they are expensive and they rattle.... *sigh*

I like the Magpul ones. I just cut a section to allow my VFG. They have sections that are designed to be cut evenly. They have a nice feel to them and are pretty low profile.

do you want "ladders" or the full panel?

I only have the Daniel Defense ladders that came with my DD free float rail. While i have nothing to compare them to, they feel extremely well made. They don't wiggle or wobble on the rail, and they don't feel flimsy...

I'm glad you posted this question because I've been vacillating between the MagPul ladders and Tangdown Panels myself. I like that the ladders are smaller and lighter but the TangoDowns protect the rails more.
I don't want to turn this thread into a gun porn thread but I'd like to get some opinions:

                    Magpul Ladders:

                    TangoDown Panels:

What say you my Calguns comrades? Panels or Ladders?

visually i like the ladders better. but the panels do offer more protection. which one feels better in your hand?

i'm starting to like the ladders more than the panels. The ladders are a lot easier to trim-to-fit (like if you have all those tacticool gizmos), and provide better non-slip texture (at least with my Daniel Defense ladders do)
