I have Stag H1 upper. The rifle feels heavy to me. Am I just used to carrying my kel tec? I have a mini as well, but this just seems to be as heavy as my M1-A1. Are stags equipped with heavy barrels? Should I have gone with Bushy, for a lighter feel?

Simply buying a Bushmaster won't affect the weight - the barrel contour and fluting will determine the weight better than a brand.
Heavy barrels are freaking heavy, while lightweight, pencil thin, or M4 profile will be significantly lighter.
You can always have your barrel turned down to a lighter weight, if you want. -

I only know of 4 M1A1 designation in weapons:
M1A1 Abrams Tank
M1A1 Bazooka
M1A1 Carbine (M1 Carbine).
Your AR should be heavier than the M1 Carbine... but certainly should be lighter than the others. If it is not, something is wrong.
Now, if you meant the M1A... civilian version of the M14... a standard M16A2 is about a 1.5 pounds lighter than the M14.
M16A2--- 8.5 pounds
M14----- 9.9 poundsOriginally posted by Alan GuraThe Second Amendment now applies to state and local governments. A 16" M4 profile barreled rifle heavy????
Using the Stag 1H upper (with detachable carry handle installed), a Stag collapsible buttstock and a fixed mag, your rifle should weigh around 7 lbs. unloaded.
That's normal.
The M4 profile barrel isn't a true heavy barrel. It is larger in diameter from the under the front sight base to the muzzle (except for the M203 cut out) than it is under the handguards.
If you want to make it lighter, you could swap out the upper with a Bushmaster Superlight upper, but if--like me--you replace the detachable carry handle with a red dot, mount and rear back up iron sight, you wind up with a 7 lb rifle unloaded.Originally posted by ChrisTKHarrisThat is one of the most idiotic statements I've heard.
