Recommend me a 357 lever rifle

So I've suddenly found myself in the market for a good lever action rifle, like a winchester model 92 or 94, chambered in 357 mag.

I know nothing, absolutely nothing about lever guns aside from what I just read through on wikipedia, and I know calguns has some lever-gurus out there.

So what is the best way to go for a NIB model 92/94 remake chambered in 357 magnum. Price not really an issue.

    Thanks.

marlin's, way smoother action than the new winchester.
EMF and Uberti's are fine as well.

For 357 mag/38sp check out the Rossi M92 and get one already tuned by Stevesgunz, http://www.stevesgunz.com/

The nicest 92 I've seen is the current Winchester take-down model 92 in 45 LC. It's the only caliber they offer it in right now but it's just beautiful and operates like a swiss watch.

I've got Marlin 1894C. I prefer the Marlins because it ejects the spent casings from the side. This allows scopes or other sights to be mounted on the receiver. The Winchester ejects from the top so mounting anything is not possible. Now I know some say mounting a scope on a leveraction is sacreligious but peep or aperture sights work real well. I've got a Skinner Lo Pro Sight on mine.

              So many choices.

I think I've narrowed it down a little bit. I'm gonna go for a 20" barreled takedown rifle.

So my choices are basically a rossi m92 or an uberti m92 right?

              ETA: Or a Marlin 1894C

I have the Marlin 1894 in 44mag. I do like it overall but I don't care for the shape of the lever.

I don't believe the Rossi or the Uberti 20" is a "takedown" rifle.
                    I could be wrong.

                    Here's my Cimarron '92 "ElDorado" .357 with a 20" barrel.
It's not a "takedown" either, but the quality and fit is exceptional.
It's very accurate and a whole lotta fun to shoot!

Do NOT get a Winchester 94 or 94AE in any pistol cartridge. The 94 was designed for the 30-30 rifle cartridge. Firing pistol cartridges from it is an afterthought. I had one in .45 Colt and it was a Jam-O-matic.The rifle that was designed for pistol, or equivalent, cartridges is the Winchester '92.

Marlin 94 is also good for 357. I never owned a Marlin, but I hear they are pretty well built rifles.

Like those sights. Does it come D&T or did you have to do it. Considering a 357/38 lever gun as well. I know it's blasphemy, but I hate the stock sights on most lever guns.

Rossi: I've had one since 1982 with no problems. Lighter and more compact than either the Winchester or Marlin. There was one for sale on the guns for sale section right here on Calguns.

                          Here's mine:
