It also keeps mud out of the bolt and chamber when you crawl through muddy rice paddies.
I love my LRB M14SA to death, but the uncovered bolt/chamber would probably not do too well if I crawled through mud with it.
Why do we keep letting history repeat itself?....

We should probably start a dumb question thread whereby anonymous posting is allowed for those too afraid to ask their respective "special" questions. Now I've gotta search your posting history so I can get good and learned more on stuff I should maybe already know about.

If we can't ask here, then where? We're not all born with the information and I'd like to think I can ask really stupid questions where I truly do want an answer and not get laughed at.

Not everyone approached firearm ownership through poodle-shooter lust. I still don't own one, and likely never will. It serves none of my purposes.

Just had to get it out... it takes all types and we'd be poorer for it if it were otherwise.

Hey, I innocently asked the forum "can you fire an AR15 with the dust cover in the closed position?" and I got ridiculed. Yet try to google it and you will not find this information anywhere. You need to be BORN with the information imbedded in your skull, don't you know :P

This is a gun forum, what do you expect?

A stupid question is a question not asked.

Also doing research on a hobby your interested doesn't hurt.

Whoa there turbo, the laughing was because he said garage door looking thing. Not because he didn't know what the part was. It was and still is a funny A** description!

Garage door looking is an apt description. Right away I got the picture. His communication skills are more than adequate!

Is that what those are for? I've always wondered why I had to enlarge the hole in my uppers to get my Hot Wheels to drive though freely.

Well yes, but it wasn't that lovely team america quote. It's much better, but more controversial so openly posting it, only gives gun haters a ridiculous excuse to say we are all crazy or something
