anyone know where to find a dirt cheap mini-14?

Im interested in finding how cheap I can get a mini-14. I just want it as a home carbine, penetrates walls less than 9mm, yet a hell of a lot more effective. That being said I dont care if a beaver made love to the stock and the grim wreaper had his way with the steel, as long as it is still a reliable gun is all I care. I am thinking maybe police surplus?
