    AR sling?

I am looking for a good one but have no idea where to even start?
I like the idea of a 3-point sling. is there anything bad about them?

also, do i HAVE to have the side sling adapter or will the underneath one work?
I looked up tutorials and most people had the side one.. will having it underneath be bad?

    thanks for the help

TacStrap 1/2 point sling with a I kick hippies SLAP Plate ftw! SLAP Plate is similar to the ASAP from Magpul but w/o the small loop that rattles a lot.

I do not know much about the 3 point slings, I mainly use mine as a single point. I have one for all of my toys, AK & AR Pistol and my Carbine as well. 17819 is a local guy and does great work and also carries the SLAP Plates as well.

Check out Vickers 2 point sling. I LOVE mine. There's a padded one too.

As for the sling adapter... I found that having an adapter attached to my rail keeps the sling out of my way and allows my rifle to rest more comfortably.

You can absolutely use the one under the bayonet mount... there are many ways to attach slings to your rifle.

My favorite is on a rail QR adapter with the other side of my 2 point sling attached to my stock.

Side adapter is much easier to work with on most "tactical" slings. If you just want something to carry the rifle around with, then just get a basic two-point sling and don't worry about the side sling adapter. I also would NOT recommend getting a three-point sling - they are overly complex and not necessary at all.

I always recommend two-point slings - like the VTAC (my favorite) but if you're stuck on a "tactical" one-point sling, then get the Magpul MS2 and give that a shot. That way you can switch between two-point and one-point mode depending on the situation.

Also, if you just want a regular old one-point sling I highly recommend the TROY one-point... but do NOT get the one (or any one) with the bungee bit at the connector (unless you are super-cereal operator and constantly clearing buildings!) Your balls will thank you...

I like a single point sling. It seems the least cumbersome and allows me to better manipulate the gun. It has it's drawback though depending on what configuration you're running. I like my rifles as light as possible, yet still configured for what I want it to do. A single point works well for me, I use the Magpul MS2, so if the need arises I can go to a 2-poiint sling.

3-points just seem to get in the way, add extra stuff to deal with and seem to be overkill. I've never ran a sling from the front sight sliing loop, but I could forsee it causing the gun to ride funny when you do sling it.

Slings are pretty mission and user specific. I think you'll end up going through a few of them. I had the VTAC sling but ditched it for a single after a few training sessions.

It seems one point slings would suck to move around with.

Thats why I like the 3-point cuz if you pull on the tightening string it can function similar to a one point, obviously not the same but similar, and it can also function like a 2 point for the carrying part..
Am I wrong in my thinking? I've only ever used a 2 point sling and it was nice but not adjustable thus kinda restricting.

Single point bungee slings are nice if your set on a single point. They work great for me out in the desert when I dont wanna hold my AR while standing around. Swing it quickly arund to your back or side. Doesnt hit my balls (like someone mentioned above) I have an ERGO http://www.ergogrips.net/item-detail...TOKEN=56534009

But I did find 100% exact replicas at the gun shows and online for around 19$ that are the same quality which I wish I got instead..

But it will all be based on preference and you'll probably go through a few til you get what you really like.

Im getting one of these. I just dont know which..."hook" combo I should go with or which forward/rail sling mount I should get for it. Any suggestions? I will be hunting with this rifle so the ability to switch from 1 to 2 point is valuable.

I'm with Gio, here. I use the tacstrap and it works great for my military duties.

As far as the hooks, just get the basic "Hk" hooks (unless you want something more advanced) they'll work fine with normal sling mount points.

As one who has many, many (unfortunately, too much) hours carrying a rifle on a daily basis... I would stray away from single point slings if you intend to hard use your rifle, especially while running. One swing of the foreend into your man parts and you will learn your lesson.

I prefer a 2 point sling, allows you to sling your weapon on your back, drop and draw your secondary (without the swing), and transition strong to weak side with ease. I use a Vickers due to the comfort.

The fate of the wounded rest in the hands of the ones who apply the first dressing.

What about the MS2 from Magpul that can be converted from 1 point to 2 points? I'd assume they wouldn't be as great as a 2 point sling for carry but any idea if they would suffice?

3 point slings are so simple a caveman can use it. Thats all I have used on both my issue M-4 and my AR. how are they overly complex?

I will agree that unless you are SpecialSealForceParajumperForcesRecon most likely you dont need a one point unless you are trying to be tacticool. The are great for smacking you in the Junk and kneecap, and I dont know how many I saw Lawndart while Marines were fastroping both on the elevator of the ship we were on (USS Boxer) with a nice steel on steel thud, and into the dirt getting plugged with "foreign matter"
But this is just my opinion, yours may be different

The tac-strap sling is basically the same as the MS2, except uses a more durable fabric that doesn't easily get shredded, and the sling itself is wider which is more comfortable in my opinion. TacStrap is my vote. With 3 point slings, the part of the sling that runs along the length of the rifle can get in the way of conducting speed reloads (read: sending the bolt home) which is why I don't like them and prefer two points (for patrol) or one points (for door kicking).

I use a BFG Victory sling, with a ITW Mash hook up front, and a TacStrap tail with snap shackle and D ring in back. I have a IKH SLAP in the rear of the receiver and a 'custom' hook hole on the handguards.
