With POF, people seem to either hate and bash em or love and praise em. Apparently the piston system they used isnt....ideal (not that any piston system is). Many feel the rail is too heavy and bulky. I played with a POF upper a while back and I thought it was cool, including that rail. I even almost bought a rail to slide onto my upper.

Well so far none of the posters actually have one......

They aren't heavy per say....most gas pistons are in general heavier....

But ya want heavy pic up a Ruger 556 or Sig 556....those are heavy...

Now the rail system is larger than most but not really noticable when actually shooting...

We have POF rifles in 308 an 556...an these are our range rifles....get hammered on at the range....not unusual to jack a 1000 rds through in a day....very accurate rifles per say...

Now if we have problems we are very specific and it gets fixed by them....
not always quick but it gets done...

Don't luv'em or hat'em....but they are a solid product...

Dude... I own one upper and am waiting for 2 more to arrive.
The POF system is as good as advertised. It's 2 yrs and 9000 rds +-.
I ordered it without all of the rail crap that would add huge amounts of unnecessary weight. IMHO.
I run mine dry and have had no issues. None!
The accuracy is better than I am capable of using and the system is not heavy when compared with other GP systems.
I really enjoy the easy cleanup compared to my DI uppers.
The only downside is the agonizingly long wait to receive one after you order it. They are also expensive.
How's that for a slice of fried gold!

I own one in 6.8SPC (16" barrel Spec II chamber, 1:11.3 twist heavy profile fluted).
Solid upper, flawless function thus far (about 1800 rounds down the pipe), and great shooter.

Shot 4.3" 5 shot group at 300 yards off a bipod with it.

Not the most economical of choices but I am very pleased with that rifle in my collection.

I have an 18in. 5.56 P.O.F. and a 20in. .308 P.O.F. and I love'em both! I think they're better than the tranditional gas system AR-15's I have. My 5.56 P.O.F. is a little picky with ammo; 60gr. soft points and 69gr. hollow points seem to give the best groups, it shoots 55gr. fmj's pretty well too. I haven't put many rounds through the .308 yet, but I'm impressed with what I've seen so far. My next rifle is going to be an LWRC of some kind (maybe a R.E.P.R), because they make an excellent product as well. In my opinion, LWRC and P.O.F are both excellent rifles and you can't go wrong with either one.

I have little experience with them but a some at least. When I first saw them I thought, "God, that thing looks heavy." But when I shot one I was really impressed with the weight and accuracy (I heard GPs were less accurate than DI). There was also the cool (as in temperature) bolt but that goes with all GP ARs. I haven't heard any bad reviews of them as stated above. Good luck with your research. -Ben

I have a POF308 MRR and I love it. It is a lil heavy but then again its a piston and its 308 so it is going to be heavier. Neways, I have never had any problems with the gun and it is a real tack driver. Very pleased. At the same time I dont know if Id buy another full POF rifle, however I will buy more of there lowers.

I just got a 14.5" POF P308. I haven't shot it yet, but I am very happy with the fit and finish. I did a lot of research and weeded through all the FUD before I bought it. Their customer service is not the greatest, but their quality and especially their barrels are first rate for sure. I'm going to get the 20" .308 upper for some longer ranges and a 6.8 upper for a SHTF setup.

I've got a complete 16" POF rifle in .223 and absolutely love it! It isn't heavy at all. I almost can't tell the difference in weight between my DI 16" upper to the POF.

I had one problem with my POF 308 and had to send it back twice. It was just bad carrier tilt and now that has been resolved. Though it never affected the function of my rifle it was kind of worrisome.

Anyways, they fixed it right away and I have to say its my favorite gun to shoot. It regularly shoots 5 shot groups under 1 MOA at 100 yards and sometimes I can even get 1/2 MOA if I take my time. Not bad accuracy for a AR. That is with factory match ammo, I am going to start hand loading and I bet I can tighten those groups up some more.
