HK 416 firing the 6.8 caliber round.

Does anyone know, or can find out, if Heckler & Koch is going to come out with, or already has, a version of the HK416 that fires the 6.8 caliber round? Or is there a way of modifying the HK416 to fire the 6.8 round? I love the 416 because it is an all around great rifle, but I just don't care for the 5.56 round all that much. Epically since I have friends in the military and plan on joining myself in the future. I just want to know if there is a way for my friends and I to have a great rifle that fires a round that has both range and knockdown power.

Sounds like someone has learned a lot of myth from playing around in the world of video games.

HK doesn't make a civilian 416. There are a number of uppers in the hands of civilians, but not a lot.

HK is planning to sell the MR556 and MR762 to civilians. It's been "around the corner" for several years. They have no plans to produce a 6.8.

or think the Ak47 shoots the 7.62 Nato?

or says that a bolt action sniper rifle is only capable of 1 round a minute?

Or try to hide from a predator drone while driving in the middle of the desert in a suburban...

Wow. I was imagining the exact same thing. But my excuse is that I'm the uploader of the ACR Future Weapons episode and have watched it a few too many times now.

                  Barrett makes a gas-piston 6.8x43mm AR.
It's been out for several years now and it's MSRP is lower than the H&K MR556.

[whisper] This is the HK416, the premier firearm of next generation warfighting. It's fitted with a 10-round, non-detacheable magazine made to fit inside a 30 round magazine. One hit from this, and you only have nine rounds left to dodge. [/whisper]

                          Bingo again.

Somebody on HKpro posted that the official word from Germany is that the 416 will not be offered in 6.8 SPC.
The way some gunshop clerks spout off, you'd think that they invented gunpowder and the repeating rifle, and sat on the Supreme Court as well.

There was a Germany made a 6.8 HK SL8, it was a featured article on Caliber Magazine (German Waffen Rag), but it was a private effort.

I sincerely doubt we will ever see an HK MR556 in another caliber other than 556, from the factory. It would be up there with a factory desert tan SL8, and a 9mm USC's, the gun equivelant of Unicorn poo, you'll never find it because HK hides all the unicorns in the world in a secret room at Obendorf, which is German for "Secret place to hide all the unicorns in the world, and keep their poo"
                            Seriously missing the 80's.....

                              1. You had better get used to the 5.56 and start loving it if you are joining the military.
                              2. General order 1 bravo prohibits the use of personally owned firearms by U.S. military forces so please refer back to number 1.
                              3. If you want something with more knock down power try and get qual'd on the SAW or get a m203 attachment on your rifle. If you are not allowed the oppertunity for either please refer back to number 1.
                              4. Unless you work in the armory you will be told, "You get what you get." If you ask for anything other than an m16/m4 once again please refer back to number 1.
                              5. If you try and violate general order 1 bravo by bringing in your own weapons when you deploy to the middle-east, you will be facing NJP charges at the very least resulting in half months pay x2, 45 days restriction and EMI so I strongly recomend take a good long look at number 1.
