Well I may be wrong but that is what two of the Remington Reps told me at SHOT. If its not true then yeah not a good deal at all. But still very nice rifle and felt very well built. Now how it shoots obviously a different story, but Im sure Remington knows what they are doing.

Hmm MSR or Cheytac Intervention... I think I'm more partial to the Intervention.

The ones I handled at Shot Show seemed well made, but nothing to write home about. They're not doing anything that a number of other makers aren't doing as well. I'd personally take the new AI AX or a DTA SRS over one of these. All three of these rifles are probably in the same weight range, but the AI and DTA just seemed to feel lighter in the hands when I tried them in various positions.

Has anyone seen the savage 338 in person?

Review in American Rifleman looked promising.

For half of what they are asking I think it could be reasonable. For 5 k getting all the jazz you do for 10.., I think it would probably sell more

                remington 700 in the cal. I want = 800
                nifght force scope and rings = 1483 + 200 + 800 = 2483
                MSR chassis = 4483
and that leaves us with 5517 dollars left to buy a bi-pod, ammo, and **** a down payment on a car...
But I being poor, have only my dreams. I have spread my dreams under your feet. Tread softely, because you tread on my dreams.

I think when they make these things they are hoping for fat Uncle Sam contracts for 500 of them at ~9k a pop etc.

it would be REAL nice to see a comparison between these two: MSR and Cheytac Intervention

Why? The Cheytac is in .408 Cheytac. That smokes the crap out of .338. Thats like comparing .223 to .260 remington for long range shooting.

But with the Cheytac Intervention you wont be able to shoot .308 out of it, so in that department the MSR wins I guess. Just depends what kind of rifle you need

For a modular rifle in 338 for $3500 without optics you can get the DTA...

Very good choice. Those things are accurate as hell. In order to justify that $10K price tag of the Remington, they should throw in barrels and bolts for all calibers and even a suppressor

They HAVE to know they are competing against the DTA...

At the prices that some have quoted, they'd be competing against AI as well.
