What is a good bolt action rifle chambered in 5.56x45?

You might look for a Remington Model Seven Youth in .223. I comes with a 1/9 twist and iron sights. I put an adult sized stock on mine and it is one of my favorite rifles. It is pretty accurate with the irons.

I shot the heavier stuff through this with no problems.

I have a Mini Mk X mauser in .223 with iron sights. Very light weight and accurate. No longer imported by Interarms (went under) but the same rifle sans sights is imported by Remington. Irons are easily installed.

FWIW the CZ 527 has a 1:12 twist barrel, not recommended for any bullets heavier than 60 Gr. The typical AR15 barrel twist is 1:9 thru 1:7

BTW to anybody who wants or has a new CZ 527 I have 2 pairs for sale for cheaper than anywhere else. 1 new in packaging and 1 slightly used. Let me know

Love me some tikka t3, this gun and a cheap scope will out shoot a lot of others. To train with open sights, get a 22LR, or an AR type rifle.

Or in the $500.00 range you might look at the Tikka T3 Lite. 1:8 twist barrel. And will most likely out shoot all of the others listed above. All three of my Tikka's would out shoot ALL of my higher end rifles...including:

Sako TRG-22
Desert Tactical Arms SRS
Remmy 5R
HS Precision PRO 2000LA
Valquartsen Evolution
Savage 12 LRPV
And a few others

Yep....all day long. In fact I was a little disappointed in the TRG-22 vs the Tikka Tactical. The Tikka would shoot sub 1/2" five shot groups at 100 yards all day long. The TRG-22 would shoot right at 1/2" groups.
Again...this was with factory (Federal) match ammo...I was not hand loading at the time.

Interesting. And that .337 grouping is the best group with the Lite, right?

You think it has to do the Lite's shorter but stiff barrel vs the other's longer barrel? I'm sure the all the model's barrels are great quality so it comes down to the length and stiffness. Thoughts?

Bigbamboo, I not certain if it is fair to compare the TRG 22 accuracy (.308) VS a TIKA in .223
Somehow I suspect your TRG-22 will beat a TRG-42 (300M or 338)
