Why would you tell people not to carry cell phones? Is it because it offends you in some way? Is it the fact that when/if a person gets stranded on the side of the road because they got lost without a navigation system, they won't be able to call for help?

Now, I'm all for doing calculations the pen and paper method, (I'm an engineer, it's in my blood) But chastising people for simplifying the process by using a computer? Why?
