Help me choose my first ACOG!

whichever one you get, make sure it has the correct BDC for your rifle & ammo. for example i use the TA31DOC ACOG on my 5.56 rifle and it has the BDC for M855 ammo, but it also works well enough for M193 ammo. just saying do your due dilligence and pick the right optic for your build and use.

I have a TA11H308 mounted on a Noveske N6 14.5 and a TA11E on a HK 91. I am planning on replacing the reticle on the TA11E to a TA11J308. The TA11H308 is awesome on the N6 14.5 but I recently received my Noveske N6 21" after a year wait and I want to put glass on that. For the interim I have purchased a Nightforce 2-10X32 NXS compact with the low velocity reticle. The reticle looks like a TA01B clone but without the tritium. But you do get the higher magnification of the Nightforce. It appears Nightforce will be extending their velocity reticles to their bigger scopes. Whatever you choose... DO NOT get a green reticle. Trust me, you'll regret it.

It's terrible to see in the daylight and it washes out when shooting against light objects.

I have 4x's and 6x's....I have less 4x's now (i only like ta31f's) and replaced with 6X's.

I shoot out to 700 meters at angeles (rock, middle last berm). If you can swing it, I recommend the ta648 for your 308. $1500 at Botachtactical.com

you won't be sorry...superior magnification, wider range of view...you will be able to see where the bullet went at longer distances much easier. Big difference imho and worth the extra cash.

I am usually going to stay within 300 yards for shooting (thats just my local range) but would like to push it as far as possible whenever I can get the chance to. I am really pretty much settled on the TA11H-308.

the TA468-308 does look cool, but $2100 from midway is a lot of cash, and I am looking for something thats primarily close up, secondary purpose for long shots, so 6x I feel would be overkill, although if I get a second ACOG it might be a TA468.

Anyone ordered an ACOG from Botach tactical? I kind of want to to save $200 bucks, but the reviews of that website are horrible, and lead me to want to stick with midwayusa.com

To save $200 I would order from just about anyone... Ask if they have it in stock and go from there... Heck they could even be TOTAL jerks to save me $200 but that is just me maybe.

Took my ta31ecos out yesterday (first time). but i'll say for my whack eyes the more mag the better. i'll use a veriable NF on my 308 REPR. I can't even imagne shooting much past 100yds with ANY accuracy short of body shots with a 4x. BUT, i'm new to it... That may change.

the optic was VERY clear, illum red reticle was great and easy to see. I highly recommend the acogs. Some say the 4x eye relief is a problem. And it was for me in the store NOT mounted to the rifle. Shooting, I didn't have a single issue with Eye releif.

i am using the TA55A and i love it .has .308 bdc..tried the one with the silhouette (newer) and didnt like it ...went with the older version without silhouette...
