Coalinga Rifle Range

My favorite place to shoot, a group of 4 of us go at least once sometimes twice a month...spend half the time on the metallic silhouette range and half on the 1K range.

You need to play cow wrangler sometimes, but the benefits far outweigh anything negative.

This is what you see, if you look to your right from the MSR or 1K FL...when the mirrors rotate later in the day it is really bright.

We will be down there this Thursday through Sunday and again next week Thursday through Sunday. Two long-range State Championship rifle matches. Many of the best long-range shooters on the west coast will be present. It looks like we will need to have the bonfire going every evening.

Nah, we bought portable shade cover for the 1K benches ( Uncovered ) ...and the silhouette range is covered already.

Except the silhouette range cover should have extended back a couple more feet, until 11:30 am or so...your back/neck gets the full sun bearing down on you.

Especially shooting with a sling and shooting coat in mid August (110+ F)...Europeans didn't evolve in that kind of heat.

Haggard 36:
On the third Saturday of the month we shoot a 3X600 match at Coalinga, why don't you come to one of those it's a real good way to learn. After the match the range is available if you want to get some extra practice in.
