If you fix the mag, and you have a length more than 30" (folded), then that should be ok, right?
Right. Basically, you just start with the rifle folded, and then extend either the front or the back until you reach 30". I'm kinda curious if you could extend the sides, horizontally, with a 31" piece of steel bar stock attached to the trigger guard or something. It might be Stupid But Legal (tm).

    Good info:

It sure does look familiar, though... I sure wonder who wrote it, and the rest of their AK descriptions?

Actually, yes, that was me. Glad you liked it, actually... I was trying to write something clearer than CA's law, while explaining CA's law...

      LOL.

How about a cut down RPK barrel to get the desired length?

Nice write up! That is very clear and to the point, that why I liked it.

Btw, when do these stock extensions go for sale and is there any thought (as I had mentioned in one of my previous posts) to making a say a 1" extension vs. a 4".

I would be using tantal MB on my Polish kit builds on either DCI or Armory USA receivers.

      Thanks Grammaton,

      Regards,

That'd be an option, if they were selling RPK barrels bare.

Seriously... I have two Yugo RPK kits that would love to have new barrels before I assemble them.

They're for sale now, and I'll actually call the guy right now about a short version.

Ok, I just got off the phone with him - he'll make you a 1.5" version, although it'll be the same price as the 4" version. This is a one-off item for you, but if more folks want 'em, we'll start carrying them regularly.

What you'll want to do, is place an order for the 4" version on the Cold War Shooters website, and then put in your comments that you're getting the 1.5" version instead. I'll pre-call Michelle so she knows not to ship you a 4".

so grammaton what youre saying is that if you have an underfolder it has to be pinned or welded in a fixed position no matter what length of rifle you have?extended barrel or trunion/buttstock?if its like that i`ll just go with a standard fixed buttstock instead of all the drama for a sidefolder or underfolder.

              ak

              1. Fixed mag, overal lenght of 30"+folded, extension is a brake, NOT a flash suppressor or GL, permanently attached, good to go with folding stock.

              2. Gas port plugged(welded, soldered, not drilled) overal lenght 26"+folded, detachable mag, pistol grip, and all evil features--GOOD to go

Common guys, read the DOJ assault weapon guide or the complete thread.

Fixed mag (or button release) with 10 round mag you can have all the "evil" features, like a flash suppressor, you want as long as the rifle is 30' minimum collapsed.

I think I already stated the same in this thread twice.

No, I'm talking about pinning the magazine, not the stock. Unless you go bolt action, you positively can't have a folding stock without a pinned magazine. If the mag is pinned, then the only thing you have to worry about is overall length (and it'd better only be a 10rd mag), and you're good to go.
