DPMS makes excellent products, but it's really not listed as an AR10 it's a DPMS .308. BTW - You're going to have to get a Fulton lower or something similar since the DPMS lower is banned in CA.

BTW - Welcome to the forum.

I am using a CMMG lower that is compatible with the DPMS LR-308. I have a DPMS LR-308 lower parts kit. You can use a standard AR15 lower parts kit but some items i.e. the take down pins are not compatible with the LR-308. Just make sure when you buy your lower you get the right one for the DPMS upper.

Actually WeedendWarrior I would disagree with your regarding not being at the top of the list, especially concerning the .308 AR10 variant.

DPMS (Defense Procurement Manufacturing Services) Panther Arms is a manufacturer of a wide range of military and civilian rifles located in St. Cloud, Minnesota. The rifles are chambered for the .223 Remington, 5.56x45mm NATO, .308 Winchester, .260 Remington, .300 Remington SA Ultra Mag, 6.8mm Remington SPC, and .204 Ruger cartridges, among others. The company also manufactures several unorthodox rifles based on the AR-15 design, including pump-action and single-shot models, and also licenses the M16A1 Spring Airsoft Rifle produced by Soft Air.

The company attracted attention within the firearms industry with its version of the AR10, the "Panther LR-308", earning the NRA Publication's magazine "Shooting Illustrated" 2005 Golden Bullseye Award for Rifle of the Year. In 2006 the "Panther LR-308AP4" earned the NRA Publication's magazine "American Rifleman" Golden Bullseye Award for "Rifle of the Year".

You don't get Rifle of the Year if your not at the top, right?

If you are going to build an upper from scratch, you can't beat DPMS pricing. I don't like the sights or forend that the complete LR's come with. I am building mine with a Troy 13.8, DPMS upper, DPMS BCG and either a DPMS barrel or have one built for me probably in .260. I have a thing for .260/6.5 bullets.

I am very pleased with my DPMS/Fulton. The armalite 308 platform is still considered to be a hair better but parts availability and price are significatly better for the DPMS. Saying that, either platform would outshoot me on my best day so it really wasn't a consideration.

No cons that I'm aware of. They are a stout company! However, you can only have a DPMS upper (lower receiver is banned by law)

DPMS rifles are listed and therefore banned. You need an Off List Lower that is DPMS compatible suck as those from Iron Ridge Arms, CMMG, FUlton, POF, JD, etc.

                        I know. It sucks.

Yes but "listed" is generally meant and taken as "specifically banned in CA" so his freedom to purchase if residing in another state is a given.

Those non-CA bastards...always getting what we cant have.
