I can't stand Keltec's either, but really nice job on the forend. That's a huge difference from those crappy plastic hand guards they come with.Billy Goat Machine

HAHAHA wow I've seen more love at a KKK convention.
I love my little su-16. Its such a fun rifle to plunk with. It gained about half a pound. The gun weights about 5.3 pounds.
I have 2 CMMG AR's. Both are great and reliable but the SU has only had 1-2 jams in its life while my ARs have had a few more. All of them are reliable but number to number the SU has had less jams and runs cleaner then the AR's. I love my AR for sure but there is a special place in my heart for this little SU. I can carry my SU-16 in a backpack without anyone knowing.Comment

It's to bad people have to take every opportunity to knock the SU (some never even owned one). I have seen pics of SUs, AKs and ARs in pieces blown up for what ever reason. Keltec nailed the problem they had with the SU long ago. It was a staking problem and a simple inspection will make sure yours is staked. To my knowledge Keltec has repaired and replace every SU with this problem that has been sent in. Only a few actually broke into pieces. If you go to there web site it is explained very well and what to do if you find your SU has not been staked properly. (Life Time Warrantee).
I remember my Dad fresh back from Vietnam talking down on the M-16. The Solders and Marines could not stand it. He preferred his M-14. I remember people saying it’s made by Mattel Toy Company.
I just saw a video on you tube of an AK blowing up on some poor US solder that was shooting it.
All guns can fail for many different reasons and you can find negatives about every gun made.
I have all three. I have two ARs, one AK and my SU. I can honestly say that I would have liked to have an SU or an AR instead of the Ruger 9mm rifle that I was forced to carry in my patrol unit. It was never intended to compete against the AR. It has pluses and minuses just like all the others.
To each there own and if you don’t like the SU that is ok but you guys don’t have to be rude and highjack every thread that comes up about it. The OP made a good mod for his SU and the FIRST post after the OP was very RUDE. Every SU thread I have seen that some poor guy post something positive or just has a question about his SU somebody has to be RUDE and start making negative comments.
To the OP you did a great job and I like the mod you did. Let us know how well it dissipates the heat? Also how did it effective the balance of the rifle?Comment

Nice fore-end on that SU! Keep up the innovations!"Bruen, the Bruen opinion, I believe, discarded the intermediate scrutiny test that I also thought was not very useful; and has, instead, replaced it with a text history and tradition test." Judge Benitez 12-12-2022

Thanks guys. I have not idea how it shoots. I just finished it last night. I won't be able to get to the range for a couple weeks. I'm happy with the way it looks though. Balance has not change at all really. Its very light yet is now a lot more solid.
I've made stuff and sold it in the past and i'm kinda over it. I just don't have the time to make more of these. If anyone wants to make their own I'm happy to give advice and specs.Comment

I think part of the reason the Kel-Tec bashing is so strong is because there are those who insist that not only is a Kel-Tec the equal of the AR-15, it's somehow BETTER. This is preposterous and needs to be called out.
Yes, I owned a Kel-Tec SU-16CA and hated it.Political correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.Comment

I did not read any post in this thread where someone said the SU was a better rifle. It is the other way around to the point of being rude. You just proved my point. Did the OP in this thread ask if you liked or hated the SU? Nope you just had to be rude and post you hated it anyway. From what I have seen here Calgunners with SUs are very polite people and don't go around hijacking AR or AK threads.
