LPK Differences

Hey! I'm trying to figure out what the differences in all of the LPK's are. Anyone know? They all look similar. Are some made with closer tolerances or with different metals. Thanks for you help!!!

If at all possible, stay away from DPMS kits. I ran into out-of-spec FCG pins ALONE so many times that I swore them off long ago....permanently. After trying a handful of others (CMMG*very good*/STAG*good*/DOUBLESTAR*pretty good*, to name a few), I came to find that the best fit, finish, overall quality, and (most important of all) consistency came in the form of the ArmaLite kits. Everything in-spec. No more missing/wrong parts. A cool little OD plastic storage box thrown in to top it all off. It just doesn't get any better, IMO. And, if you are lucky enough to get one with the ArmaLite Tactical 2-Stage trigger, you will realize what the RRA NM wishes it could be!

the DPMS LPK's in the plastic bubble is good, but the "DPMS" ones in the bags may not be from DPMS at all, so stay away from those

I have used 4 of the dpms kits (3 blister packs 1 baggy) 1 cmmg kit and 1 RRA kit. ALL of the dpms kits had larger bolt release pins and trigger guard pins. Other than those pins, the kits were basically the same. I think the coating on the RRA parts were a bit better (not necessarily stronger, but a darker black).

After the first couple DPMS kit installs, I ordered a bunch of replacement pins direct from RRA. So, I wouldn't hesitate to use a DPMS kit, just beware that those two pins are a bear and if you can get a couple pins from RRA do that.

I have a dpms bubble pack in one of my lowers. the mag catch doesnt seem to fit my charles daly very well. Im probably going to end up replacing it and using it for parts.

I put together two rifles with DPMS lower parts kits. Zero problems.

Tried a DPMS LPK one time and also ran into some VERY tight FCG pins and the trigger guard roll pin was out of round, making it very difficult to install.

From what i've seen your probably safe with CMMG, Stag/CMT, RRA, and Armalite. Every company makes mistakes and leaves out a pin, detent, spring, etc from time to time so be aware that it COULD happen even if you go with some of the higher end manufacturers.

I gave used DPMS (6) Rock River (2) CMMG (2) White Oak Precision (4) and I can't tell the difference... but!! in ALL of them... the trigger guard pin was too large or the hole in the TG was to small...I just simply drilled out the TG hole....but other than that.. I couldn't tell the difference in the parts upon instalation.. but it seemed the Rock River triggers were verry heavy...ALL of the LPK's saw the 10min Trigger Job (actually takes less than 5min)

I've used lots of DPMS and a couple of DoubleStars. Some of the pins are a little tighter from one kit to the next, but using a vice to slowly push it in works great. Much better than a hammer and punch or pair of wrapped channel locks. Never had any missing parts or just plain won't work parts...just a couple of pain in the rear pins.
No experience with any other brands.

The trigger packs on the CMMG kits are the best I have seen.

I've used 1 CMMG and 1 DPMS with no problems with ether.

For some reason- I believe Stag LPKs are crisper and better than the others...
