    AR Pistol Idea

If someone could build a 7 inch gas piston upper, do you think it would be a big seller in the AR Pistol world? Assuming decent cost.

Just like that, but at a price of more like 5-600 dollars.

maybe a little more, but definitely sub 1000 depening on quantities, pricing would be affected.

the AR pistol world is very small.

            Sub-$1000 vs $500 is a huge difference.

I haven't addressed construction costs yet, so its a bit variable. I"m thinking 6-700 reasonably, but with volume approaching 500

There is a new pistol from LWRC, thought I'd post it for those that missed it.

                Expensive though..

Wait...if LWRC now has a pistol in 5.56 then is it possible that somewhere in the near future we may no longer be able to get M855 and or SS109?

                    Badass pistol BTW

If you can make something of comparable quality to the diablo for <$1000, I'd buy it.

No, neither of those are considered "armor piercing."

5.56 pistols have been made for decades.

I don't mean to throw wrenches in your thinking, but:

                          whose piston?
                          what barrels?
                          what handguard?

If you're building your own piston, how will it be built? How will the gas block be attached? How will you address carrier tilt? How will you address receiver wear? Short stroke or long?

AR pistols is a small market. 500 pistol uppers could take a while to move, especially since you're making them truly pistol-only (7" barrel is really useless as a carbine).

This isn't the place to "get a feel" for sales. 50% of the people who sound excited won't be in 6 months when you have the uppers. Another 40% won't be able to find the cash. Another 1% will annoy the **** out of you. Group buys are rough.

If you're excited about it and you can deal with the realities, by all means go for it! It's still fun to do, but it's not easy & there's ZERO money in it (if you're lucky - many are upside down).

Wellllll what is considered armor piercing then? Why is steel core 7.62x39 AP but 5.56 isnt?

HA, its funny because Im asking as if this whole AP ordeal is actually rational.

Just hatin on the 'communist' round. Maybe it was added for the import ban.

Seriously though, last time I checked the 30-06 black tip was not considered armor piercing either, which is ironic.
Something like 22 caliber and smaller is not considered armor piercing.
