Likely the linear compensator. Run a search on google, there's some reviews/comparisons out there.
There are some people that it's just not worth engaging.

It's a muzzle BRAKE, not a muzzle break. Or is your muzzle tired?

      Silencer. It's still fairly loud.

Agree 100% on silencer being the best flash/noise killer.

Shorty's are loud no matter what legal non-silencer muzzle fob is used. IMO.

Get a blast forwarder / flash can.

Here are some examples, in ascending price:

          KAK Industries Flash Can

          Noveske Flaming Pig

          Surefire Warden

All of the gasses exiting the muzzle is directed forward downrange, none of it to the side.

These types of muzzle device don't do a lot to reduce recoil or muzzle rise, but there isn't much of either in a 5.56 AR-15 anyway.

Short of a suppressor, no muzzle device is louder or quieter than another. Sure, different ones direct the sound in different directions. So, you may want to find one that directs the sound forward or simply don't use any.

There's been good reviews on these

If you ever go to free state, suppressor is the way to go. Even largest volume cans, non subsonic rounds coming out of 10.5" isn't hearing safe more than couple shots without ear pros.

Get blast loudners. Then your guests will be ear blind to everything.

VG6 + CAGE device will help somewhat. helps to send the blast all around instead of just to the sides.

They aren't anywhere near hearing safe, but you can use foamies and not even push them in all the way.

                        Ya, I was just being a wise-@ss.
