    Thordsen Stock

I have a second AR-15 stripped lower that I want to build on. I currently have a featureless carbine AR15 with a 16" barrel. It has a Sparrow Dynamics grip and a fixed Magpul CTR stock.
I'm thinking about getting the Thordsen stock for my next build. I think I'm going to do a rifle length buffer tube with maybe a 20" barrel and LPVO. It will be a range rifle and for the possible SHTF. Nothing precision. I'm possibly going to swap out uppers back and forth for hunting with it, later on.
What's your all's opinions on the Thordsen stocks? I've shot a buddy's precision AR, once that has one on it. It was a little more comfortable than my Sparrow grip. It felt similar to gripping my Mossberg 500. I've read that it's kind of heavy, compared to a regular stock and featureless grip.

I run them on two featureless rifles. I like them but they are a bit heavy. I cannot stand fin grips though.
My mother always told me to be careful what you ask for.

Just one more piece of parental advice I stupidly ignored.

I have them on two ARs and like them as much as anything can be liked other than a pistol grip.

To go with an A2 buffer tube you're going to have to go with the Gen Iii stock, and it is heavy. I have one with a carbine buffer tube. I really like it, but it's not very good for a SHTF gun. If that's what you're looking for I would recommend going with the Gen II stock and a carbine buffer tube.

        Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Thanks all, the Gen 3 does look heavy. I might just go with the Gen 2. It doesn't really look all that bad. I think I rather do the gen 2 over the Juggernaut Tactical grip, just to be safe legally wise. There seems to be too much confusion if the JT grip is legal or not.

I had one, sold it off. The LOP was too long for me

I have a sparrow on all but 1 of my featureless AR’s

I have both the Gen II and the Gen III. I haven't set up the Gen II yet as I bought it used and it's not in the color I wanted, but I got a can of Aluma-Hyde II to fix that. I can tell that it's much lighter and once I fix the color it will be replacing the Gen III.

Now, as for the JT grip. I did just get one for a new build. I decided to go ahead and get one after the last interaction the had with the CA DOJ. When they came out with their new lower the CA DOJ told them that it did not comply with the law and that they couldn't sell it in CA. They didn't mention anything about the grip they sell to comply with CA law. I; and some others, believe that if they had a problem with it they would have said so at the same time. We could be wrong but I'm comfortable with installing it on this new build.

I’ve got 2 of the Gen 3 Thordsen, and I like them. I set mine up using the Carbine buffer tube. I like that the LOP is adjustable. Mine are used on rifles with 18”+ barrels.
My boys prefer their Gen 2.

I have the Gen3 on an M&P II, works pretty well for me.

For a 20" with an LPVO, I would assume that it won't be used for much offhand work. The Thordsen Gen3 would be fine for supported shooting, as it feels very much like a typical rifle stock.

I highly recommend to have an ambi safety with it, so you can use your trigger finger on the safety. Reaching round with your thumb is pretty impossible - unless you are a lefty.

                      Ambidextrous safety is a must.

I bought one of their "blems" a couple of years ago, for my M&P Sport gen1. I like it fine.
