    what's so great about KAC?

I might have a line on one soon, so I'm asking literally, what's great enough to make them worth, or not worth, the money?

Please spare me the snarky fairy dust, etc. remarks, I've made plenty of them myself.

    Notice I said "please"?

    Thanks

Zero first hand knowledge. But, is the material different? Like titanium? Or some special billet? Serious question?

Honestly, while I like their stuff, you're really paying a premium for the military provenance. Kinda along the same lines like premium pricing for HK, Colt, LMT, etc.

Plus they have a few parts that were pretty innovative for their time, only for smaller shops to improve on them later. KAC isn't the best, but one of the first.

I've heard that but I'm looking for the "why".

For example, I know their bolt is product improved, and I found this:

Enlarged Bolt Face – Provides more positive engagement in the chamber and ensures proper seating upon cycling.
Rounded Bolt Lugs – Less prone to chipping or cracking than traditional square lug designs.Reduced-Size Cam Pin – Allows for a thicker bolt web, strengthening a common failure point in the AR-15 bolt design.Enhanced Reliability Extractor – Shaped like a “T” this extractor’s pivot point is shifted forward to apply constant pressure on the case rim and reduce extraction failures. Its dual extractor springs provide a fail safe in the event that one fails during hard usage.
Even though I've heard that before, I don't know how much of that is advertising patter and how much is real world superiority.

Nothing. People are simply willing to pay the premium, so they will continue to charge it.

Is kac really worth the money? To me no I'd rather have lmt, lwrc, or a hk416

The SR15 is superior to other AR’s. If you’ve ever shot one you will understand. Perfectly gassed and extremely reliable. If I’m spending my own money on one carbine, it would be the SR15 E3 Mod 2. The LMT MARS would be a close 2nd choice.

Its quality built man. That KAC bug bit me and I'm all in haha. Perfectly gassed, super accurate, bolt is heavy duty, its just premium. I have other set ups like MCXs, but this is just up there even thou it looks like a normal AR. If i had to pick one, this is it. And if you're looking at something for the long run, KAC will keep its value, especially for us in CA. Just my thoughts

I have had the SR-15 MOD 1 since 2012. Honestly probably have between 18k-20kish rounds through the rifle. It has been utterly reliable, accurate and soft shooting. I’m sure the prices today are a bit inflated but it is my hands down favorite AR I own. I think when I purchased it I paid around 2k for the complete rifle.

I don't understand what perfectly gassed means. I've never shot any AR and thought, "it's perfectly gassed". It's all BS. I have a friend who is a Sheriff and we go out to range used by local PD. He brought out a basic Colt 6920 LE. It only had a Aimpoint Pro on. He said, it was the department beater rifle.

It had zero lubrication. It was light weight and basic. It shot just fine & no issues even with no lube. When I was shooting it I never once thought "it perfectly gassed'. It actually made me question the reason why I have all the Gucci ARs that I own.

But we all know you're going to by into the hype and there is nothing wrong with that.

Perfectly gassed meaning the gas system, buffer weight etc all work together for the rifle which is soft shooting and I’m running the stock a2 flash hider. I also have a Colt 6920 in stock configuration and if you shoot both side by side it’s night and day. But by all means buy whatever makes you happy. I only own one KAC rifle and I’m happy that I do.
