Just to add a tiny bit of my two cents and agreeing with what you put down, Vltor's A5 emod (kit# AEBK-A5B) > LMT's sopmod, but I use and like both, the LMT on a Bushmaster/Colt M4 RAW clone and the Vltor on a LMT full-length Defender 2000.

IIRC they went with a 13" gas system out of the 18" barrel that ran smoother/flatter than a carbine gassed system. Reducing the OAL to be shorter than a GI M16 du jour.

The rest is a mix or proprietary features that comes with. The E3 bolt and other related bits are there to help when the giddy up switch is engaged.

They do have a rep in the industry from the Mil.gov Inc. and LE sides that operate on a certain level.

*Lone survivor operation red wing Marcus Luttrell was said to have taken his rifle down the side of a mountain. Firing when he could. He and the rifle saved/took lives until it ran dry. I think it was a Mk12 KAC assembly.

I think they were recovered. They organized a fairly big mission to do it.

There are accounts that put the team in a very bad light, like the talis knew they were coming long before they arrived at the OP, etc.

There is a lot of material out there, but it's hard to decide who to believe. Littrell still has buddies on his side, like O'Neil.

The Gas system is optimal. The gas tube is straight, not curved and I believe there is a castle-nut in front of the block, further isolating a bleed off.

I don't understand what perfectly gassed means. I've never shot any AR and thought, "it's perfectly gassed". It's all BS. I have a friend who is a Sheriff and we go out to range used by local PD. He brought out a basic Colt 6920 LE. It only had a Aimpoint Pro on. He said, it was the department beater rifle.

It had zero lubrication. It was light weight and basic. It shot just fine & no issues even with no lube. When I was shooting it I never once thought "it perfectly gassed'. It actually made me question the reason why I have all the Gucci ARs that I own.

But we all know you're going to by into the hype and there is nothing wrong with that.
