    Muzzle devices

I'm clueless on what to replace an A2 with. I picked up a simple thread protector, but I'm thinking something like this would be much more beneficial. Surefire, Warden Blast Regulator . I've felt what it feels like to be shooting next to someone that has a side exits device. It's not pleasant. With all the regs and restrictions, I'm unsure if this would be legal.

Is this good to go in CA?

This will be for a featureless configuration. I know it's a bit pricey. Most things from Surefire are. I just liked the forward blast concept. I'll probably just run a tread protector for a while. I just thought this was interesting and might be more beneficial. Thanks for the reply.

What host are you going to use? That's more important, unless you're p/w'ing a Warden on.

No doubt, it's clear as mud. It's going on a Colt 6920 EPR upper with 16" barrel.

I really like these "A2 Style" muzzle brakes. They are just like the A2 cage but with a closed front so they are a brake and not a flash hider. Keeps the look. Brakes are fine if you're shooting alone, but they add weight and blast people next to you if you're with other people.

I guess I posted the wrong link. https://www.bauer-precision.com/sure...-thread-black/
I'm looking at the cheaper threaded version. The one in the link I originally posted needed a "host" to attach. The threaded is a stand alone. Sorry for the confusion. Does this answer your question?

Sure looks like the "Flaming Pig" which is a flash hider, but you probably should find out the details from Surefire.

For comparison of brakes, this is a good one, google for the other version, there were at least two:

There are a bunch of linear compensators out there running from cheap through reasonable to your expensive Surefire Warden. IMHO every one that I've played with seem to be just as loud as a bare muzzle, but easier on the bystanders than a conventional brake.

We have an earlier version of this one from Midway. It works as expected. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1021158557?pid=908642

I have a KAK compensator on my featureless 6.5 Creedmoor and it runs great. It keeps recoil minimal so I can spot my hits and the blast is not obnoxious like more aggressive brakes. At only $12 it's worth giving it a shot (pun intended).

You can spend a lot more for name brand stuff (I have), but in terms of performance per dollar, this is hard to beat.

I use linear compensators here. KAG, Levang and others. Less noise. The Grendel and 350 Legend have pepper pot brakes.

I'd go with a Kaw Valley linear compensator if it's for a featureless build.
