It is not an AR15, LE6920, Sporter, or Match Target. That being said the rollmarks are identical to the 6920.Last edited by rorschach; 06-26-2009, 6:15 PM.L.A. County

I'm tempted, though, considering how nice the 6940 is.
I think it's the idea that it says "Colt" that has us all thrown.

This post is taken from the CA home town forum on AR15.com.
There may be four lower receivers that meet todays definition of California legal "off-list".
1. Colt Carbine Model # unk.
2. Colt CAR-A3 HBAR ELITE Model 6724
3. Colt M4 Law Enforcement carbine. Model 6921
4. Colt Law Enforcement Carbine. Model 6940
There are different features, both marking and functional parts between the Colt off-list receivers. There are probably variations within these.
The Colt carbine is rollmarked "COLT(logo) COLT CARBINE tm CAL. .223 SER. CC xxx" The Carbine model may be a large pivot pin hole .315 lower.
It has .155 hammer and trigger pin holes.
They come with a standard AR-15 trigger group.
Some may be marked "EXPORT USE ONLY" on the right side of the magazine well.
Some may have visibly pinned auto-sear block receivers.
unknown what type of fence.

The 6724 model is rollmarked with "COLT(logo) CAR-A3 HBAR ELITE CAL. 223 SER. BK xxx"
Some have both standard front and rear .250 pin holes with push pins.
Some have the pivot pin hole .250 in size with a two piece screw.
The ones with the two piece screw pin are not drilled in the magazine fence for a spring and detent for a .250 push pivot pin.
The hammer and trigger pins are .170. They come with a Colt enhanced (match) trigger group.
There are visibly pinned auto-sear block receivers and webbed non visible auto-sear block receivers.
There are large and small holes in visibly pinned receivers.
You can see the automatic sear block pin hole and pin above the selector lever on receivers that have them.
They have a full fence.

The 6921 model is rollmarked "COLT(logo) M4LE COLTS LAW ENFORCEMENT CAL. 5.56MM LE xxx".
They have .250 push pin take down and pivot pins.
They have .155 hammer and trigger pin holes.
They come with a standard AR-15 trigger group
They are marked LE/GOV'T/EXPORT use only.
They have a web auto-sear block, and have a full fence.
The 6921 comes with a 14.5" barrel. Likely deregistered NFA lower.
The 6940 model is rollmarked "COLT(logo) COLTS LAW ENFORCEMENT CARBINE CAL. 5.56MM LE xxx".
They have .250 push pin take down and pivot pins.
They have .155 hammer and trigger pin holes. They come with a standard AR-15 trigger group.
They are marked LE/GOV'T/EXPORT use only. They have a web auto-sear block. They have a full fence.
Here's a large hole visible sear block pin on both sides of the receiver.
This is a HBAR ELITE.
Here's a photo of a sear block inside the receiver viewed from the top. This type of sear block will not allow you to use
M-16 bolt carriers. It uses the Colt AR-15 half circle bolt carriers.
Here's an example of a webbed in auto-sear block. Seen only when the receivers are taken down.Last edited by Blacktail 8541; 06-27-2009, 9:07 AM.BT 8541
