There's more to it than just buying it. You're supposed to remove the ejector, so you have to disassemble the bolt.

True, and you need both the go and the no-go gauges too. There are some with cut outs so you don't have to remove the extractor and ejector. And some people seem to claim removing either is unnecessary, but again, never used these so I don't know.

I just think this is all unnecessary for brand new, brand-name barrels from quality manufacturers with very solid QC track records. If they were sending out dangerous barrels there would be quite a sh*t fest going on.

I have one from Geissele. Did not cost much and saved at least a dozen curse words.

A punch works too if you don't want to buy a slave pin. Good 'nuff...

Also adding to the list of tools, Knipex pliers to press those pins in. Works flawlessly. Someone here on CG mentioned them a couple years back. Expensive but great tools.

lol! The geissle slave pin looks real nice, probably worth the money if you're building more than a few AR's. Creature comforts and all...

Kind of like the glock front sight tool... not required, but nice to have a purpose made tool for the job.

Just make sure to lube up anything you're sliding through your receiver... reaction rod, takedown pins, slave pins, punches, roll pins, etc. Lube them all with a decent amount of CLP/oil!
