    Actually that's federal ATF law.

A pistol once it receives a butstock becomes a rifle, (A rifle can NEVER become a pistol.) and cannot be converted back to a pistol. If the pistol has a barrel length of less than 16 inches when you attach a butstock it becomes a SBR! If you live in a free state you can get the proper tax stamp to make a SBR, but not in CA.

Just remember pistol with butstock becomes rifle, refle can never be a pistol.

There is if you want an AR pistol. An exempt pistol can't have a barrel longer than 15.9" on it or it will have legal issues....

You can put a 17" upper on a pistol lower. Nothing against that.

It's no longer a pistol at that point, it's actually a non-pistol long gun. But since you don't add a buttstock to it, you can change it back to a pistol.

Rifles can never become pistols, but non-pistol long guns CAN.

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.

This is correct, this is one of the problems with the Mech-tech CCU carbine conversion. The second the pistol frame is attached to the mech-tech, legally it can never be a hand gun again. I would love to have one of these in 10mm.
