    Ruger PC-40 .40 cal carbine

I found one of these in a store yesterday (slightly used but in like-new condition) and I'm wondering if there are any other shooters on the board with one. If so, how do you like it, etc.? It fit the bill exactly for what I wanted, so I swooped on it and also a Marlin model 60 for cheap shooting fun.
    Thanks,
    Marc

I have the PC9 and love it. It is a fun shooter and goes with all the mags I have for my p89. Nice little camp gun.

Congrats on finding one. I've got a PC9 with the ghost ring sight and I love it. I just need a Ruger 9mm handgun so I have a matching pair of 9mm's.

Have the PC 40 with GR sight. Excellent for what it is. I certainly love the fact I can use the same ammo I have for my primary pistol round.

A little bit of a PIA to disassemble and clean. If you shoot and clean often then you will want to buy a spare band for the font. Maybe and extra screw as well. All depends on how nice you want to keep it looking.

Hope I never have to send it into Ruger for service. Ruger service is not exactly the most satisfying experience I have ever had with any of the major (or minor) manufacturers.

I've also got a PC9 with a rail and a Leupold LG35 red dot, and it's a great shooter. Everybody who shoots it loves it. I've also got a P95, they share mags, and I've got quite a pile of Ruger mags built up over the years.

Aside from the lower cost of shooting, compared to, say, .223, I like that I can shoot it at the indoor range if I want.

Thanks for all the input guys! I too like the idea of being able to use it at an indoor range. I was wanting to get an XD-40, but maybe I'll look for a Ruger .40 instead.
              Thanks,

You should look into how well the PC4 can run XD mags. They will fit and run, but you might want to see how well.

I looked into this, back when I wanted a PC9, but could only find the PC4. PC9's are GTG with Beretta mags (which I have), and apparently the PC4 can run XD mags. All it requires is the addition of a notch for the mag catch.

They can also run Glock mags with a little bit of mods. I am planning on dropping mine off to my smith with my HK mags and seeing if he could get those to work, I have a ton of them....

My only complaint is with the trigger, the pull is about a mile long, deinately needs a trigger job. But its a blast too shoot and fairly cheap as well (unless you compare it to a 22)

They are great. But the trigger sucks and PIA to take apart.
