Lost me at shooting "cheap steel cased ammo" while talking about your precious safe queen.

You may be better off shooting custom nerf-cased ammo. Bonus: it's also lead-free.WTB: Beretta 92/M9 series (non-railed), Remington 1100 LT-20,Comment

If my circle of shooting buddies found one of us putting anything on the case deflector to prevent nicks he'd get a swift kick in the nuts and be savagely mocked for at least a month.
All in good fun. Case of beer and a few stiff drinks heals all wounds among friends.

FYI i have a couple AR slick side uppers (no deflector) that also get brass marks from ejecting cases. The marks are just a tad farther back than where a deflector would be. So theres that.Comment

If you are shooting it, then it isn't a safe queen and who cares about brass marks. if it is a safe queen, then it isn't being shot and brass marks aren't a problem.Anyone have a safe queen that they have taken steps towards protecting the brass deflector from getting banged up too much from doing its job? Especially if shooting cheap steel cased ammo.
I would be curious if anyone has tried putting a piece of gaffer's or electrical tape or maybe brushed on some plati-dip over the pad of the deflector. Any risk of the adhesive actually doing damage to the upper's finish?
Any other questions I may assist with?Comment

For the love of god DO NOT DROP IT ON CARPET. my bcm with acog has never seen a rifle case and gets cleaned when it's needed. Throw in back of jeep, shoot and bring back home.Comment
